06-27-19 | Rangers -114 v. Tigers | 3-1 | Win | 100 | 1 h 22 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Detroit, Turnbull's last two starts came against Cleveland and he suffered the loss both times, first giving up six runs in five innings and then allowing two runs in five frames. The 26-year-old has been reached for 18 runs in 19 innings over his last four home starts and is 0-5 in nine career starts at Comerica Park. Turnbull will be making his first appearance against the Rangers. In addition, the Tigers are sliding with six straight losses and 10 in their last 11 games, and they are a woeful 11-26 at home. |
06-26-19 | Nationals -144 v. Marlins | 7-5 | Win | 100 | 8 h 27 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Corbin checks in off a gem against the Phillies and he should be happy to see Miami. The last time that he faced the Marlins, he tossed a complete-game shutout. Gallen still only has one start under his belt. He's supported by the lowest-scoring team in baseball. While the Marlins average 3.5 runs per game, the Nats average five. Including the earlier loss against Corbin, the Marlins are 33-58 (-14.8) their last 91 against southpaw starters. |
06-26-19 | Rangers v. Tigers UNDER 9 | 4-1 | Win | 100 | 8 h 13 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Under is 15-5-1 in Minors last 21 starts when their opponent allows 5 runs or more in their previous game, 15-5-1 in Minors last 21 starts following a Quality Start in his last appearance, and 24-9-1 in Minors last 34 starts on grass. While the Under is 6-2-2 in Boyds last 10 starts with 4 days of rest, 3-1-2 in Boyds last 6 home starts vs. a team with a winning record, and 3-1-2 in Boyds last 6 starts when their opponent scores 5 runs or more in their previous game. |
06-26-19 | Rockies -137 v. Giants | 6-3 | Win | 100 | 5 h 6 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Colorado starter, Marquez is 5-0 in day team-starts this season, and has a 3.02 ERA with 0.79 WHIP on the road as opposed to 5.70 ERA and 1.60 WHIP at home this season. San Francisco starter, Samardzija is 1-6 his last seven team-starts versus Colorado, and 2-8 in his last ten home team-starts in June. |
06-25-19 | Mariners +1.5 v. Brewers | 8-3 | Win | 100 | 7 h 35 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Seattle Mariners have won four of their last five while the Milwaukee Brewers had dropped five straight before beating Cincinnati twice over the weekend. I think we're getting an excellent price on the visitors to keep it close here at Miller Park tonight. Seattle southpaw Marco Gonzales (8-6, 4.38 ERA) has recovered nicely from a rough stretch and enters this contest 3-0 with a 2.33 ERA in his past three starts. Gonzales is hard to beat when he's on a roll and the Mariners are 14-6 in his last 20 starts following a Quality Start in his last appearance. We can also note that the Brewers are 0-5 in their last five games vs. a left-handed starter. |
06-25-19 | Rangers -140 v. Tigers | 5-3 | Win | 100 | 6 h 37 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Rangers come into Detroit as winners of three of their last four overall, and the Tigers have lost eight of their last nine overall. Texas could be a far bigger favorite here. Jordan Zimmerman will get the nod for Detroit, and the Tigers are 0-5 in Zimmermann's last five starts. The over is 5-0 in Zimmermann's last five starts overall. The Rangers are 10-3 in the last 13 meetings in Detroit. |
06-25-19 | Padres -181 v. Orioles | 8-3 | Win | 100 | 6 h 35 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Orioles have won just once in the last 12 games and are electing to go with a "opener" here. These bullpen days have generally not gone well for them, which shouldn't be surprising as the pitching staff has a combined 5.85 ERA, more than a full run higher than than the American League average. They are allowing the most runs per game in all of baseball right now (6.3) and incredibly that number jumps to 6.9 runs/game here at Camden Yards! San Diego's Logan Allen didn't allow any runs in his big league debut (seven innings) and gave up only three hits last Tuesday. After getting swept over the weekend in Pittsburgh, San Diego is going to want this one pretty badly. |
06-24-19 | Dodgers -128 v. Diamondbacks | 5-8 | Loss | -128 | 11 h 45 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Dodgers bring a six game winning streak into Arizona, and Game 1 will be a high profile pitcher's duel featuring Clayton Kershaw starting opposite Zack Greinke. The Dodgers are 37-14 in Kershaws last 51 road starts, and they are 8-2 in Kershaw's last 10 starts versus the Diamondbacks. The Diamondbacks are 0-5 in their last five home games. The Diamondbacks are 1-4 in their last five home games versus a left-handed starter. |
06-24-19 | Mets v. Phillies -125 | 7-13 | Win | 100 | 8 h 0 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Phillies are 4-2 in Zach Eflin's home starts this season. Overall, he has been the most consistent starter for the Phillies this season. Eflin has allowed 3 or less runs in 11 of his 14 starts this season. Also, he has a 2.83 ERA on the season. The Mets are starting Steven Matz and he has allowed 9 runs (7 earned) in the 6 innings spanning his last two starts against the Phillies. Also, the New York southpaw is 2-5 with an ugly 6.21 ERA in his 8 road starts this season. The Mets are 17-27 in road games this season. The Phillies have lost 4 straight home games but were 23-13 on the season at Citizens Bank Park prior to this surprising stretch. |
06-23-19 | Twins -141 v. Royals | 1-6 | Loss | -141 | 3 h 24 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Pineda has allowed three earned runs or fewer in eight straight starts, including two in a row in which he's yielded just one. The 30-year-old has not surrendered a home run in each of his last four outings after serving up a total of eight over his previous four. Left fielder Alex Gordon is just 4-for-22 with eight strikeouts against Pineda. Bailey struggled mightily in the second half of May and opened June with a clunker at Texas. The 33-year-old opened his season with five innings of three-run ball against the Twins and has a 6.10 ERA in two career matchups. |
06-23-19 | Astros -123 v. Yankees | 9-4 | Win | 100 | 3 h 27 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Astros are in danger of being swept in the Bronx, but they send their ace to the mound on Sunday. The Astros are 21-5 in Verlanders last 26 road starts, and they are 4-1 in his last five starts versus the Yankees. The Astros are 37-15 in their last 52 road games versus a left-handed starter. J.A. Happ has pitched better on the road than he has at home. |
06-23-19 | Blue Jays v. Red Sox -156 | 6-1 | Loss | -156 | 2 h 24 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Porcello is coming off a dominant outing at Minnesota on Monday, when he scattered four hits and struck out eight over seven scoreless innings to earn a win. The former Cy Young Award winner owns 23 strikeouts and three walks in 24 1/3 innings this month and turned in a quality start in five of his last seven outings. Porcello had little trouble at Toronto on May 22, allowing one run and three hits in six innings without factoring in the decision. |
06-22-19 | Reds +111 v. Brewers | 5-6 | Loss | -100 | 5 h 48 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Castillo (7-1, 2.26 ERA) has allowed just five earned runs over his last four starts covering 23 1/3 innings of work. Castillo is an undefeated 3-0 in seven road starts on the season and owns a 3.50 ERA in six career starts against the Brew Crew. Milwaukee right-hander Jhoulys Chacin (3-8, 5.60 ERA) missed about two weeks with a back injury and was charged with the loss after allowing six hits and two runs in 4 2/3 innings at San Diego on June 17. Chacin is 0-5 over his last five starts while making it through the fifth inning in only one of those outings. |
06-22-19 | Orioles v. Mariners -170 | 8-4 | Loss | -170 | 5 h 42 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Baltimore starter, Cashner is 2-5 with a 4.22 ERA in 11 career appearances (10 starts) versus the Mariners – including 1-3 with a 4.15 mark in six games (five starts) in Seattle. Seattle starter, Milone will follow an opener Saturday after pitching well in that role last Monday when he allowed one run with six strikeouts over 6 1/3 innings against Kansas City. The 32-year-old California native was promoted from Triple-A Tacoma last month and has posted a 32-to-5 strikeout-to-walk ratio in six games (three starts) covering 32 2/3 innings. Milone, owns a 2-1 record and 2.23 ERA in six career games (five starts) versus Baltimore. |
06-22-19 | Mets v. Cubs -129 | 10-2 | Loss | -129 | 2 h 27 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units After a good start against the Giants a few weeks back, Wheeler’s last two starts against the Yankees and Braves on the road have been disastrous. In those two games, he’s allowed nine earned runs and five unearned runs in 10.2 innings with a whopping 20 hits allowed. On the road this year he’s really been off with a 5.55 ERA and a 1.52 WHIP with nine of his 14 home runs allowed coming in his eight road starts. Wheeler does tend to give the Mets some length despite the poor performance, but even if he can go six innings, giving this terrible Mets bullpen any opportunity will only help our cause. Jose Quintana managed to survive a very tough three-game stretch that saw him face the Rockies at home and on the road with another road Dodgers start thrown in for good measure. He had a decent 4.24 ERA in those games and he’s been even better at home this year with a 2.98 ERA and a 1.147 WHIP. In the last two seasons, he’s faced the Mets twice and beaten them with two runs allowed in 13 innings. |
06-18-19 | Astros -169 v. Reds | 3-4 | Loss | -169 | 7 h 0 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Verlander had zero walks while recording the 15 strikeouts in seven innings of a no-decision against Milwaukee on Wednesday. However, he did allow three home runs and is giving up 1.5 per nine innings, which would represent the highest mark of his stellar career. The 36-year-old carries an incredible 34-7 interleague record into his second career start against the Reds. |
06-16-19 | Brewers -144 v. Giants | 5-3 | Win | 100 | 5 h 42 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Brewers come into this one 16-9 in day games. Anderson has a stellar 2.63 ERA on the road and he's had success against SF the past couple of seasons. In three starts, since 2017, vs. the Giants, he's allowed just three combined runs, through 18 2/3 innings. His teams won those games by scores of 5-2, 3-1 and 4-2. Samardzija hasn't had that type of success against Milwaukee. Not even close. In fact, his teams are 1-9 his last 10 starts vs. the Brewers. |
06-16-19 | Padres v. Rockies -144 | 14-13 | Loss | -144 | 4 h 5 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Rockies wrap up this home series versus San Diego today, and Colorado looks good as the home favorite when you consider they have won 12 of their last 14 at Coors Field. The Padres are 1-5 in their last six road games, and just 1-6 in their last seven games versus a right-handed starter. The Padres are 2-6 in the last 8 meetings in Colorado. The Rockies are 6-2 in their last eight games versus a left-handed starter. |
06-16-19 | Diamondbacks v. Nationals -133 | 5-15 | Win | 100 | 2 h 7 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units With two starters sidelined by injury, Arizona manager Torey Lovullo will turn to Bradley, who has made all 29 appearances out of the bullpen but has pitched beyond two innings only once. Washington starter, Sanchez was in the midst of a five-start losing streak before he was forced to exit a matchup against the New York Mets after only 1 1/3 innings on May 16 due to a hamstring injury. The 35-year-old Venezuelan has been a different pitcher since his return to the rotation, going 2-0 with a 1.04 ERA in his last three turns while yielding two runs and nine hits in 17 1/3 innings. Sanchez is 4-1 with a 4.25 ERA against Arizona. |
06-15-19 | Yankees -170 v. White Sox | 8-4 | Win | 100 | 1 h 3 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Yanks were embarrassed last night, losing to the White Sox 10-2. But they were also facing a Cy Young candidate in Lucas Giolito. Tonight they face Reynaldo Lopez, who has a 6.21 ERA and 1.61 WHIP. They should easily handle him. Lopez has been even worse than usual recently with opposing hitters batting .346 against him in his last four starts. The Yankees have lost three in a row for the second time this month but prior to that had only one losing streak of that length all season. New York is going with an "opener" today in Chad Green. They've won all four previous games that Green has opened. |
06-15-19 | Cardinals v. Mets -140 | 7-8 | Win | 100 | 1 h 31 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Noah Syndergaard tossed a gem in his last home start, givig up just one hit through seven scoreless innings. He will try to help the Mets avoid a sweep here tonight, and he matches up well against Michael Wacha. The Mets are 11-2 in their last 13 home games versus a right-handed starter. The Mets are 13-4 in their last 17 home games. |
06-12-19 | Brewers v. Astros -128 | 6-3 | Loss | -128 | 7 h 3 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Verlander did not factor in the decision in his last outing as he allowed three runs and five hits over 6 1/3 innings against Seattle. The 36-year-old has given up five hits or fewer in 11 straight outings and owns a splendid 0.74 WHIP while limiting opponents to a .151 batting average this season. Verlander is 2-0 with a 1.08 ERA in two career starts against the Brewers and has enjoyed success versus Mike Moustakas (12-for-68, one homer). |
06-12-19 | Cardinals -175 v. Marlins | 0-9 | Loss | -175 | 6 h 6 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units St. Louis starter Mikolas has 30 Ks with 5 BBs his last six starts, and is 3-1 versus NL East this season. Miami starter, Urena is 1-6 with 5.59 ERA and 1.69 WHIP at home this season, and home team is 0-2 Urena in career team-starts in this series. |
06-09-19 | White Sox v. Royals -127 | 5-2 | Loss | -127 | 3 h 28 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Lopez will be making his fourth start this season against the Royals, going 1-1 with a 5.74 ERA through the first three. He is 0-2 with a 12.83 ERA over his last three outings while giving up six home runs in 13 1/3 innings. The 25-year-old, who is 0-4 with an 8.75 ERA on the road this year, has had his issues in the past with Whit Merrifield (11-for-28) and Jorge Soler (7-for-11). Sparkman came back six days after his ejection in Chicago to spin 5 1/3 innings of one-run ball in a no-decision against Boston at home. He is 1-0 with a 3.38 ERA in three starts this year while allowing just nine hits in 13 1/3 frames. |
06-09-19 | Diamondbacks -135 v. Blue Jays | 8-2 | Win | 100 | 2 h 15 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Arizona left-hander Robbie Ray (4-3, 3.62 ERA) is coming off back-to-back losses after allowing three runs in seven innings of a 3-1 home loss to the Dodgers. However, note that Ray is 2-1 with a 2.63 ERA in his past five road starts and that Toronto has failed to score more than two runs in 18 of its last 34 contests. Left-hander Clayton Richard (0-1, 3.55 ERA) will toe the slab for the Blue Jays. He was 0-1 with a 6.60 ERA in three starts against Arizona last year. Richards has allowed nine hits and nine walks over 12 2/3 innings of work this season and he has yet to make it out of the fifth inning in any of his starts. The clinchers: the Blue Jays are 1-9 in their last 10 during game 3 of a series and the Diamondbacks are 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in Toronto. |
06-09-19 | Reds v. Phillies -135 | 4-3 | Loss | -135 | 2 h 23 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Phillies have won six of Nola’s starts in a row. The Reds haven’t been doing a lot of winning of late with six losses in eight games. Reds’ pitcher Sonny Gray is having an excellent bounceback of his own, but that hasn’t led to much winning. Cincy is 5-7 in his starts on the year, 1-4 on the road. We don’t expect much run support for Gray because that is just not the Reds’ game as they are 14-21 on the road and an awful 7-20 in day games. The Phils dominate in this situation at 22-11 at home and 30-16 vs. righties. |
06-08-19 | Cardinals v. Cubs +100 | 4-9 | Win | 100 | 6 h 56 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Flaherty struck out nine Cubs in 5 2/3 frames at Wrigley Field on May 3, when he gave up three runs in a loss. Anthony Rizzo (7-for-11, two homers) has feasted on Flaherty. Lester went 0-3 with a 10.28 ERA over his final three starts in May, but opened June with a much better effort by limiting the Los Angeles Angels to a run in seven frames while striking out six. He has a 1.76 ERA in six home starts this year while posting 32 strikeouts and four walks in 30 2/3 innings. |
06-08-19 | Pirates v. Brewers -164 | 3-5 | Win | 100 | 3 h 56 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Zach Davies will start here for the Brew Crew, looking to stay perfect on the season. He's 6-0 in 12 starts (8-4 TSR) with a 2.20 ERA and 1.22 WHIP. He just faced Pittsburgh six days ago and held them to two runs over eight innings. Starting that game for Pittsburgh was Jordan Lyles. He gave up all four runs in a 4-2 loss. Lyles will start again Saturday afternoon. It's tough to like him with a 7.47 ERA his last three starts. |
06-08-19 | Diamondbacks -130 v. Blue Jays | 6-0 | Win | 100 | 2 h 7 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Zack Greinke wasn’t so sharp in his last outing against the Mets in a game that the Diamondbacks eventually won, but that is about the only bad thing about Greinke lately. That last start was his first since Opening Day where he allowed more than three earned runs, a streak that stretched 11 starts. Greinke has been good against basically everyone, but this Toronto team is not one that scares us. The Jays are an ugly 13-30 against righties this year, being outscored by 1.4 runs. They are only slightly better at home at 12-19 with a 1.3 run per game deficit. The D-Backs have a winning record away from home, but it is their offense that intrigues us most. Away from their hitter-friendly park, they still have an average of 5.6 runs per game with an excellent .796 team OPS. That should come in handy against a pitcher like Aaron Sanchez, who has allowed 24 batters to reach base in his last 15 innings with the Jays losing all three |
06-07-19 | White Sox +110 v. Royals | 4-6 | Loss | -100 | 7 h 59 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The White Sox have been playing a bit better of late, winning six of their last nine games as they hover around the .500 mark. They have easily been at their best in night games with a 19-11 record and huge profits. They have also been very good in-division with a 16-13 AL Central record and if they are to get closer to .500 or even get past it, they must take care of teams like the Royals. With six wins in nine games vs. Kansas City, they are on their way to accomplishing their goals. Ivan Nova pitched well in a win a few weeks back against Kansas City. Homer Bailey also pitched in that series, but his recent track record is ugly enough that we have to be wary of him. He has allowed at least four runs in three of his last four starts and hasn’t pitched more than 4.1 innings in any of them. |
06-07-19 | A's v. Rangers -108 | 5-3 | Loss | -108 | 7 h 37 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Anderson is expected to make his scheduled start after leaving his outing against Houston on Saturday with an oblique issue. The 31-year-old native of Midland, Texas took the loss in that contest after yielding three runs and six hits over 5 1/3 innings. Anderson is 3-4 with a 4.82 ERA in 14 career games (11 starts) versus the Rangers, including a no-decision at Texas on April 14 in which he allowed three runs on two hits and a pair of walks over six frames. Lynn will attempt to redeem himself after being battered for eight runs and nine hits in 3 1/3 innings of a loss at Oakland on April 23. It was the first career appearance against the Athletics by the 32-year-old from Indiana, who has won three of his last four overall turns and four straight at home. The most recent victory came against Kansas City on Saturday, when Lynn gave up two runs and six hits over 6 1/3 frames. |
06-07-19 | Cardinals v. Cubs -123 | 1-3 | Win | 100 | 1 h 55 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units After getting swept by the Cardinals in the midst of an ugly road trip where they lost five of six games, you can bet that the Cubs have this one circled for revenge. They certainly feel better about winning four straight against the Rockies and Angels. Cole Hamels will be key here, especially with his two tough luck losses against St. Louis where he allowed a single earned run in 14 innings of work with just nine base runners allowed. St. Louis has lost money on the road this year with a 11-16 while being outscored by 13 runs. The Cubs are an excellent 21-10 AT HOME this year with a +38 run differential. Miles Mikolas has good numbers against Chicago, but he’s been downright bad away from home this year with a 7.66 ERA in give road starts. We don’t see this working out for him |
06-05-19 | Rockies +107 v. Cubs | 8-9 | Loss | -100 | 6 h 26 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Marquez enjoyed a successful month of May, winning all three of his decisions while escaping with no-decisions after three rough outings. The 24-year-old Venezuelan ended the month with a victory over Toronto on Friday in which he allowed two runs and six hits over seven innings. Darvish made six starts last month but did not record a decision despite allowing three runs or fewer in four of the outings. The 32-year-old native of Japan worked six innings at St. Louis on Friday, permitting one run on three hits and three walks with six strikeouts. Darvish has yet to defeat Colorado in his career, surrendering 16 runs on 17 hits and nine walks over 13 1/3 frames while losing all three of his starts. |
06-02-19 | Phillies v. Dodgers -165 | 0-8 | Win | 100 | 5 h 57 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Philadelphia starter, Pivetta allowed three runs, three hits (two homers) and two walks while recording six strikeouts in five innings of a 4-3 victory over St. Louis on Tuesday in his first start since being recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley. The 26-year-old Canadian was pegged to be Philadelphia's No. 2 starter coming out of spring training but went 2-1 with an 8.35 ERA in his first four turns to earn a demotion in April. Chris Taylor is 3-for-5 with two solo home runs against Pivetta, who is 1-1 with a 3.27 ERA in two starts versus the Dodgers - both of which took place during his rookie season in 2017. Los Angeles starter, Hill did not factor in the decision against the New York Mets on Tuesday after yielding two runs and six hits while recording six strikeouts in six innings of Los Angeles' 7-3 loss. The 39-year-old native of Massachusetts hasn't permitted more than three runs in any of his six turns this season. Hill is 1-2 with a 4.50 ERA in seven career games (four starts) versus the Phillies but hasn't faced them since 2013 with Cleveland. |
06-02-19 | Astros -137 v. A's | 6-4 | Win | 100 | 5 h 57 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Cole bounced back from a rough outing against the Chicago White Sox by limiting the crosstown Cubs to two runs and three hits over six innings en route to victory Monday. The 28-year-old Californian recorded his sixth double-digit strikeout performance by registering a season high-tying 12, raising his major league-leading total to 112. Cole owns a 3-1 record and 3.38 ERA with 50 strikeouts over 37 2/3 frames in six starts versus Oakland. |
06-02-19 | Tigers v. Braves -150 | 4-7 | Win | 100 | 2 h 14 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Teheran makes his first start of June after a stellar May in which he posted a 0.98 ERA and 0.98 WHIP in five starts, holding opponents to a .128 batting average while not allowing more than one earned run in any outing. The 28-year-old matched a season high with four walks May 26 at St. Louis, giving up three runs in total (two unearned) on two hits in five innings. Teheran’s lone career appearance against Detroit came on Oct. 2, 2016, in which he pitched seven shutout innings on the final day of the season in the last game played at Turner Field. |
06-01-19 | Astros -147 v. A's | 5-1 | Win | 100 | 9 h 45 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Verlander has registered 95 strikeouts in 79 1/3 innings and is just three away from surpassing the legendary Cy Young (2,803) for 21st place on the all-time list. The 36-year-old has allowed fewer than two runs in eight of his 12 starts and five or fewer hits on nine occasions. Verlander is 12-6 with a 2.73 ERA in 20 career starts against Oakland and has been roughed up by slugger Khris Davis (6-for-11, four homers). Anderson has won back-to-back starts, allowing a total of two runs in 11 2/3 innings. The 31-year-old is 3-1 with a 3.42 ERA in five home starts this season despite issuing 16 walks in just 26 1/3 frames. Anderson is 1-3 with a 6.97 ERA in five career appearances (four starts) against Houston and has struggled to retire former teammate Josh Reddick (4-for-5, one homer). |
06-01-19 | Blue Jays v. Rockies -147 | 2-4 | Win | 100 | 8 h 51 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Rockies are red hot, coming into Game 2 of this home series versus Toronto as winners of six straight. The Blue Jays have lost seven of eight. Jon Gray will toe the rubber for the Rockies, and he's coming off consecutive wins in his last two starts. The Rockies have won six of his last eight starts, and he's 1-1 with a 3.86 ERA in four home starts. The Jays hand the ball to Marcus Stroman, who has been better at home than he has been on the road. Stroman (3-6, 2.74 ERA) hasn't gone deep into games, pitching five or less innings in three of his last six starts. Only the Tigers have scored fewer runs than Toronto in the American League. |

06-01-19 | Royals v. Rangers -155 | 2-6 | Win | 100 | 3 h 50 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Texas has been one of baseball's hotter teams lately. Lance Lynn doesn't have the numbers he had a few years ago, but he's still winning games and striking out more than his share of batters. His 22 strikeouts over 13 innings in his last two starts raise some eyebrows. He faces a Royals team that ranks 20th in the majors in scoring. Texas ranks 3rd in the majors in runs scored. |

The 31-year-old struck out eight while scattering four hits over six scoreless innings against Boston on Saturday, and has fanned 32 combined in his last four outings. Peacock tossed a scoreless inning of relief at Oakland on April 17. Fiers allowed three or fewer runs in each of his last six starts, highlighted by a no-hitter against the Cincinnati Reds on May 7. The Florida native surrendered a pair of home runs against Seattle on Saturday but limited the damage to three runs on five hits in six innings to come away with the win. Fiers went up against Peacock on April 7 and suffered through his worst outing of the season, allowing six runs on seven hits and four walks in 1 2/3 innings. |

The 27-year-old held St. Louis to one unearned run on five hits with no walks and seven strikeouts on May 24, and in his past two starts has surrendered two earned runs on eight hits across 12 innings with 10 strikeouts and zero walks. |
05-29-19 | Giants -113 v. Marlins | 2-4 | Loss | -113 | 5 h 26 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Giants Bumgarner (3-4, 4.10 ERA) comes in off perhaps his best start of the year, going six innings while posting 17 swinging strikes and giving up two runs vs. the Braves on Thursday. With both the Phillies and Yankees reportedly interested in the Giants’ veteran, Bumgarner has plenty to “play for” here, even though his team might not. Pablo Lopez (3-5, 5.40) gets the nod for the home side. Lopez has an 8.26 ERA on the road and a 1.93 ERA at home. The Marlins though are a terrible 1-4 (-2.9 units) already this season after scoring eight or more runs. |
05-29-19 | Indians v. Red Sox +102 | 14-9 | Loss | -100 | 4 h 30 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Cleveland had lost seven of its previous eight games before last night where it is now sitting right at .500 and 10 games behind the Twins in the American League Central. The Indians are 4-10 in their last 14 games after allowing five runs or more in their previous game while going 17-33 in their last 50 games when the money line is +125 to -125. Shane Bieber is having a solid season with a 3.11 ERA and 1.05 WHIP. His ERA goes up to 3.29 on the road which is still very solid but the Indians are just 2-2 in his four road starts as they are giving him only 3.3 rpg. The Indians are 1-4 in his last five starts after scoring five runs or more in their previous game. Ryan Weber gets the ball for Boston and in his only other start for the Red Sox, he pitched six innings of three-hit, one-run ball while walking none and striking out four as the Sox won at Toronto, 8-2, last Thursday. In four games, he is 1-0 with a 1.29 ERA. |
05-28-19 | Cardinals +118 v. Phillies | 3-4 | Loss | -100 | 8 h 23 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units St. Louis starter, Wainwright answered an 0-2 mark in his last three starts by evening his record on Wednesday after allowing three runs on six hits in five innings of a 10-3 win versus Kansas City. The 37-year-old has struggled with his control of late, permitting nine walks in his last two starts (nine innings). Offseason acquisitions Jean Segura (10-for-22, homer) and Harper (9-for-20, homer) have flustered Wainwright, who owns a 7-2 mark with a 2.90 ERA in 15 career encounters (13 starts) against Philadelphia. While Philadelphia starter, Pivetta will return to the starting rotation for the first time since April 16 after being recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley. The 26-year-old British Columbia native was rocked for 18 runs and 31 hits -- including five homers -- in his first four starts of the season with the Phillies |

05-28-19 | Padres v. Yankees -184 | 5-4 | Loss | -184 | 7 h 52 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units San Diego Starter, Lauer has had two good starts of late, but his road work has been less than stellar even if you discount the one start where he gave up eight runs in Colorado. Overall he has an 8.24 ERA in his four road starts, spanning 19.2 innings with 30 base runners allowed. The Padres’ offense also features an outlier as they scored 19 runs a few days ago, but have been ordinary otherwise. They average just 3.3 runs per game in night games and should have trouble with Masahiro Tanaka, who has a 0.95 ERA in his last 19 innings with an 18-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio. |
05-27-19 | Rangers +110 v. Mariners | 2-6 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 1 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Texas starter, Lynn looks to remain perfect against the Mariners in his career after allowing two runs and five hits while registering a season-high 11 strikeouts over seven innings in a home victory on Tuesday. The 32-year-old native of Indiana also won his first two career outings in Seattle, including one on April 28 in which he permitted one run and five hits with nine strikeouts over seven frames. That turn began a stretch during which Lynn has given up three runs or fewer four times while winning four of five starts. Seattle starter, Milone made his season debut opposite Lynn on Tuesday and suffered the loss despite allowing only two runs and three hits over five innings. The setback dropped the 32-year-old Californian, who registered six strikeouts, to 3-5 with a 4.45 ERA in 11 career starts against Texas. |
05-27-19 | Indians v. Red Sox -165 | 5-12 | Win | 100 | 5 h 47 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Red Sox are 15-8 in May, while outscoring opponents by 60 runs. This is bad news for Jefry Rodriguez, who has allowed 12 total runs in his last 16.2 innings with 20 hits, four of which were home runs. This Boston offense is an upgrade on the Baltimore and Oakland offenses he saw in those games. The Red Sox are are scoring 5.6 runs per game in the last week with an excellent .828 team OPS in that span. Rick Porcello has slowly been turning his season around and has a 3.20 ERA and a 0.813 WHIP in his last three starts |

He has been tagged with 10 earned runs through his last 6 1/3 innings of work out of the bullpen. The Tigers hand the ball to left-hander Daniel Norris (2-2, 4.30 ERA) who limited Miami to a pair of runs over six frames last time out. Norris has compiled a respectable 3.32 ERA in five appearances (three starts) covering 21 2/3 innings of work away from home this season. The clinchers: the Orioles are 3-13 in their last 16 games vs. a left-handed starter and 8-45 in their last 53 openers of a series. |
05-26-19 | Braves +140 v. Cardinals | 4-3 | Win | 140 | 8 h 37 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Atlanta starter, Teheran quietly has been one of the reasons Atlanta has played well this month, giving up only two earned runs while limiting opponents to a .132 batting average over 22 2/3 innings in four starts. The 28-year-old held San Francisco to one run and three hits while recording six strikeouts in 5 2/3 frames on Tuesday but did not factor in the decision of Atlanta's 4-3 loss. Teheran defeated the Cardinals at home on May 16, giving up just two hits in five scoreless innings. |

A’s starter Brett Anderson is 5-3 with a 4.14 ERA and is 8-5 with a 2.38 ERA in 20 career starts vs. the M’s. The Mariners are already a terrible 2-9 (-6.4 units) this season as a road dog in the +125 to +150 range, while Oakland is a solid 11-5 as a favorite this year. |
05-26-19 | Diamondbacks -115 v. Giants | 6-2 | Win | 100 | 5 h 40 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Arizona starter, Weaver was a hard-luck loser Monday against San Diego after allowing two runs and striking out seven over six innings. “He was unbelievable,” manager Torey Lovullo told reporters. “He did everything he could to keep us in the game.” The 25-year-old native of Florida owns a 2.44 ERA and 55-to-8 strikeout-to-walk ratio over his last eight starts since April 12 and is 2-1 with a 2.04 ERA in three career starts versus San Francisco. San Francisco has fallen to 10-17 at home this year and their offense of late is trending to a really bad place. They have averaged 2.9 runs per game with a miserable .544 team OPS in that span. |

The 26-year-old Venezuelan escaped with a no-decision in Boston's 6-5 victory over Colorado on May 15, yielding five runs with a season-high 10 strikeouts in six frames after going 3-0 with a 2.28 ERA in his previous four starts. Houston's Alex Bregman is 2-for-4 with two homers and Carlos Correa is 4-for-5 with two walks versus Rodriguez, who is 0-2 with a 9.90 ERA in three career starts against the Astros. Houston starter, Verlander permitted only a home run to Jose Abreu while walking one and striking out a season-high 12 in eight innings of Tuesday's 5-1 victory over the Chicago White Sox. The Virginia native, who needs nine strikeouts to pass Cy Young and move into 21st on the all-time list, has recorded nine quality starts in his 11 turns and has allowed 36 hits in 72 1/3 frames this season. Boston's Mookie Betts is 0-for-13 versus Verlander. |
05-25-19 | Rangers +116 v. Angels | 2-3 | Loss | -100 | 11 h 14 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Texas starter, Minor looks to win his third consecutive start after allowing three runs and registering 14 strikeouts over 11 innings in back-to-back triumphs over Kansas City on the road and Seattle at home. One of the outings was against the Boston Red Sox and two were against the New York Yankees, giving the 32-year-old five total encounters with the American League East powerhouses among his 10 starts. Cashner spent four-plus seasons in the National League West with San Diego and is 0-2 with a 7.94 ERA in nine career games (five starts) at Coors Field. Colorado starter, Freeland is 6-1 with a 2.20 ERA in 10 career interleague starts. |
05-25-19 | Red Sox v. Astros -119 | 3-4 | Win | 100 | 9 h 30 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Roberto Osuna converted his 25th consecutive save opportunity, breaking the Astros' franchise record set in 2005 by Brad Lidge. Houston won the opener despite recording just four hits, one of which was Jake Marisnick's solo homer, while the Red Sox received solo shots from Xander Bogaerts, Jackie Bradley Jr. and Christian Vasquez. J.D. Martinez (illness/back) went 0-for-3 with a walk after missing the previous four games as Boston lost for the second time in six contests. Houston starter, Peacock has won three straight starts, allowing one run and eight hits with 24 strikeouts in 17 innings during that stretch. Darvish, yielded two runs across 5 1/3 innings at Cincinnati last week. |

05-23-19 | White Sox v. Astros -179 | 4-0 | Loss | -179 | 7 h 38 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Giolito has been pitching well of late but he won't be happy to see the Astros. He's made three starts vs. Houston and he's lost all three. The combined score of all three games was 15-3, in favor of the Astros. Martin's lone home start saw him record nine K's against one walk. The Astros have the edge at the plate and in the bullpen. Even with yesterday's loss, they're still 13-2 against teams with a losing record. Astros bounce back. |

Brad Keller will start for the Royals, and he's lost his last five starts. He's allowed 10 runs on 12 hits and nine walks over 10 2/3 innings in his last two starts. Keller has walked almost as many batters as he has struck out so far this season. The Cards hand the ball to Michael Wacha, who is 3-1 in his last five starts. He's 2-0 with a 3.38 ERA in his last three starts versus KC. The Royals are batting a combined .218 with more strikeouts than hits over 87 at bats versus Wacha. |

05-21-19 | Reds v. Brewers -133 | 3-0 | Loss | -133 | 8 h 40 m | Show

The 30-year-old has not given up more than three runs in any of his five starts while completing at least five innings in all of them. |||||||
05-19-19 | Cubs -131 v. Nationals | 6-5 | Win | 100 | 8 h 29 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units It is hard to pitch much better than Hendricks is doing right now. In his last three starts, he’s allowed a single earned runs across 25 innings with a 17-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio and only 12 hits allowed. You don’t see many pitchers go that deep into games any more, but when you are as efficient and effective as Hendricks has been, you can get it done. Can’t say the same for Jeremy Hellickson. The Nats’ righty has not completed six innings since his first start of the season and has only gotten past the fifth inning three times. He has allowed five or more total runs in four of his last five starts. Chicago’s offense takes it up a notch on the road where they average 6.6 runs per game with an .849 team OPS. They also feature a very nice 21-12 record against righties. Look for them to come away with this one. |
05-19-19 | Royals v. Angels -158 | 5-1 | Loss | -158 | 6 h 35 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Left-hander Tyler Skaggs (4-3, 5.05 ERA) is 2-0 with a 2.19 ERA in two home starts on the season and he is 2-1 with a dominant 0.35 ERA in four career starts against KC. That includes five scoreless innings of three-hit ball in a 5-1 win at the K back in April. The Royals counter with left-hander Danny Duffy (2-1, 3.97 ERA) who is is 2-2 with a 4.25 ERA in seven games (six starts) against the Halos. Mike Trout hit his 250th career homer last night and is 7-for-18 with a home run and double off Duffy. Royals are 5-23 in their last 28 Sunday games and 9-25 in their last 34 games vs. a left-handed starter. They've lost 10 of the last 12 meetings with the Angels. |
05-19-19 | Astros v. Red Sox -160 | 3-4 | Win | 100 | 3 h 19 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Reports of Sale's demise were greatly exaggerated. Last time out, he recorded 17 K's. That give him 31 K's with ZERO walks his last two starts, 41 K's his last three. Over that 3-game span, he's got a dominant 1.29 ERA and 0.476 WHIP. He's also 5-2 with a 1.83 ERA in seven reg. season starts vs. Houston. Miley has a 2.31 ERA at home but a 4.50 mark on the road. Opposing batters hit just .181 against him at home but .274 against him on the road. The last time that Miley faced Boston was when he was with Baltimore in Sept. 2017. Coincidentally, that matchup also came against Sale. Sale and the Bosox won 9-0. Sale gave up four hits while striking out 13 in eight innings. Miley got rocked. The Sox should roll again this afternoon. |
05-18-19 | Brewers v. Braves -116 | 3-4 | Win | 100 | 9 h 13 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Gausman returns with one extra day of rest after dropping the appeal of a five-game suspension from throwing at Miami’s Jose Urena on May 3, a game in which he lasted just 1 2/3 innings. While appealing the ban, the 28-year-old made one of his best starts of the season in his last appearance May 11 at Arizona, striking out six with two walks and one run allowed on five hits over six innings. Gausman, who has allowed four or more earned runs in three of his first eight starts, gave up one run across eight innings in his only career appearance against Milwaukee last season. |
05-18-19 | Dodgers -136 v. Reds | 0-4 | Loss | -136 | 5 h 10 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Walker Buehler in his last three starts has pitched to a 2.79 ERA and an even better 0.879 WHIP with a 21-2 strikeout-to-walk ratio. He has seen the Reds twice previously in his career, including once back in mid-April -- only two earned runs allowed in 12.1 innings on eight hits allowed with 16 Ks. Tyler Mahle was lucky to get out of his six innings against the Dodgers in his April start with only four runs allowed as he gave up 11 hits in that outing. I don’t see him getting as lucky here. A 4-12 day game record for Cincinnati suggests that Reds get baked in the sun once again. |
05-18-19 | Rockies v. Phillies -167 | 1-2 | Win | 100 | 6 h 13 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Philadelphia starter, Nola has not pitched as well overall as he did last year (17-6, 2.37 ERA), but the 25-year-old is receiving strong run support to remain unbeaten. Blackmon is 6-for-10 with a homer and three doubles against Nola, who is 2-0 with a 2.79 ERA in three career starts versus Colorado after permitting three runs - two homers - over 5 2/3 innings last month. |

Rating: 2 Units Tampa Bay starter, Snell struck out 12 in 5 2/3 innings against New York at home on Sunday but was charged with two runs and four hits to suffer the loss in a game Tampa Bay dropped 7-1. The reigning AL Cy Young Award winner received a total of six runs of support in his four losses and is up to 62 strikeouts in 43 total innings. Snell is 3-5 with a 4.25 ERA in 12 career starts against the Yankees, including 1-4 with a 5.63 mark in eight outings at New York. New York starter, Tanaka outdueled Snell in Tampa Bay on Sunday, scattering one run and five hits over seven innings while striking out seven to earn the win. The Japan native yielded a solo home run to Austin Meadows in that outing and surrendered at least one blast in each of his last seven turns. Tanaka, who is 2-1 with a 3.03 ERA in five starts at home in 2019, is 9-4 with a 3.54 ERA in 15 career starts against the Rays. |

The 28-year-old Venezuelan, who suffered a contusion on his left foot in the setback, gave up a total of five runs over 27 frames during the streak. The Seattle Mariners are the top power-hitting team in the league. |

05-17-19 | Blue Jays v. White Sox -104 | 10-2 | Loss | -104 | 10 h 46 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units After winning his final two decisions in April, Sanchez has lost all three of his starts this month. The 26-year-old Californian's latest setback occurred at home on Sunday, when he registered a season-high 11 strikeouts but surrendered five runs and nine hits over six innings against the White Sox. The defeat dropped Sanchez to 0-1 with a 4.35 ERA in five career games (three starts) versus Chicago. Chicago starter, Nova's season has been the opposite of Sanchez's, as he lost all three of his decisions last month but has won both of them in May. The 32-year-old Dominican allowed one run and five hits over six innings in a victory at Toronto on Saturday, improving to 2-1 in four starts this season in which he yielded a single run. |

05-17-19 | Astros -130 v. Red Sox | 3-1 | Win | 100 | 9 h 51 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Houston starter, Cole struck out 12 over six innings against Texas on Saturday and was charged with one run and four hits to earn his third straight win. The UCLA product leads the majors with 86 strikeouts and fanned at least nine in each of his last four turns. Cole lost his lone start at Boston in the ALCS last fall, surrendering five runs - four earned - on six hits and a pair of walks in six innings while striking out five. Boston starter, Porcello allowed four runs on five hits in the first inning against Seattle on Saturday but settled down and did not allow a hit the rest of the way while lasting 6 2/3 innings and earning the win. The former Cy Young Award winner went 0-3 with an 11.12 ERA in his first three starts but is 3-0 with a 3.06 ERA in his last five outings. Porcello made two appearances - one start - in the ALCS against Houston last October and allowed a total of four runs and seven hits in five innings. |

05-14-19 | A's v. Mariners +106 | 3-4 | Win | 106 | 7 h 2 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Seattle Mariners were one strike away from having a dismal losing stretch continue but instead are in position to sweep a two-game set from the visiting Oakland Athletics on Tuesday. Seattle pushed across two runs in the bottom of the 10th inning for a 6-5 victory on Monday - just its third win in its last 15 contests. Ramon Laureano belted Oakland's fifth solo homer of the contest to give his team a 5-4 lead before Seattle's Domingo Santana hit a game-tying double and scored the winning run on Omar Narvaez's single to left field. Daniel Vogelbach hit a three-run homer in the eighth and Mitch Haniger belted a leadoff shot for the Mariners, who halted their four-game slide. Khris Davis ended a 20-game home-run drought by slugging two on Monday while Mark Canha and Matt Olson also went deep. The Athletics have dropped 10 of their last 11 away games and are 5-14 overall on the road. |

05-14-19 | Pirates v. Diamondbacks -150 | 6-2 | Loss | -150 | 6 h 23 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Luke Weaver, on the other hand, has been pitching quite well of late. He has given up two runs in his last 14 innings with a 14-3 strikeout-to-walk ratio and six hits allowed against better offenses than he will see here. Arizona’s offense has come back down to Earth a bit, but they are still strong enough to get Weaver enough support for a win. The clincher: Arizona is 5-1 at home in Game One of a series and 5-1 on Tuesdays this season while the Pirates Musgrove is 1-3 with 5.09 ERA and 1.39 WHIP away this season. |
05-14-19 | Brewers v. Phillies +105 | 6-1 | Loss | -100 | 4 h 59 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Eickhoff authored his third scoreless performance in five outings on Wednesday, scattering three hits over eight innings in a 5-0 win at St. Louis. The 28-year-old's lone issue has been his walks, as he has issued at least three free passes in his last four turns. |
05-14-19 | Cubs -107 v. Reds | 3-1 | Win | 100 | 4 h 38 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Hendricks has been outstanding in his last two starts, allowing one unearned run over 17 innings with 10 strikeouts and no walks. The 29-year-old has been efficient - after an 81-pitch shutout against St. Louis on May 3, he needed only 96 pitches to get through eight innings Wednesday against Miami. Hendricks is 5-2 with a 3.45 ERA in 13 starts against the Reds, but he has been tagged for 23 runs (22 earned) in 34 1/3 innings across six starts in Cincinnati. |
05-13-19 | Indians -150 v. White Sox | 2-5 | Loss | -150 | 8 h 50 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The visitors hand the ball to Shane Bieber (2-1, 3.32 ERA) who comes in off a gem vs. the hard-hitting Mariners on Friday, allowing one run with eight strikeouts over eight innings in what turned out to be an unfortunate no-decision. Bieber looks to get off the schneid, as he’s settled for no-decisions or taken losses in three straight outings. The home side counters with the volatile Reynaldo Lopez (2-4, 6.38) who was shelled for six runs off eight hits over five innings in a loss to the Red Sox on Friday. Over 36.1 innings of work Lopez sports a bloated 1.76 WHIP. |
05-13-19 | Angels v. Twins -129 | 5-4 | Loss | -129 | 7 h 23 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Berrios is off another gem. He tossed seven shutout innings, en route to a 3-0 win at Toronto. That gives him a 1.80 ERA his last three starts. He's undefeated in four home starts and has a superb 1.98 ERA and 0.80 WHIP here. On the other hand, Skaggs got rocked last time out. Through five innings, he gave up seven earned runs, eight runs overall. He now has an ugly 6.38 ERA in four road starts. While the Angels are 8-12 on the road, the Twins are 13-7 at home. |
05-12-19 | Brewers v. Cubs -131 | 1-4 | Win | 100 | 8 h 3 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Milwaukee starter, Chacin has had a couple of rocky outings this season, but his last two starts have been solid. The 31-year-old allowed two runs over five innings in a no-decision Monday against Washington after tossing six scoreless frames in his previous start. Chacin is 4-6 with a 2.86 ERA in 12 games (11 starts) against the Cubs. Chicago starter, Lester has been outstanding in three starts since returning from the injured list, allowing three runs (one earned) over 18 innings with 19 strikeouts. The 35-year-old has not allowed more than two runs in a start this season. Lester is 4-3 with a 2.66 ERA in eight starts against Milwaukee. |
05-12-19 | Reds v. Giants -103 | 5-6 | Win | 100 | 5 h 3 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Cincinnati starter, Mahle lost his lone career start versus the Giants on May 15, 2018 in San Francisco, where he surrendered four runs and seven hits in 3 1/3 frames. San Francisco starter, Bumgarner could be making one of his final starts for the Giants as the free-agent-to-be reportedly submitted a no-trade list to management that includes eight teams. The 29-year-old native of North Carolina is coming off a victory at Colorado on Tuesday in which he allowed three runs and eight hits over six innings. |
05-12-19 | Phillies -115 v. Royals | 6-1 | Win | 100 | 3 h 18 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Irvin was 14-4 with a 2.57 ERA with Lehigh Valley last year and picked up where he left off with six solid starts out of the gate for the IronPigs in 2019. He tossed at least six innings in each of his last five starts, including 6 1/3 innings of three-run ball at Buffalo on May 4. The 25-year-old, a native of California, was selected in the fifth round of the 2016 draft. |
05-11-19 | Reds v. Giants +120 | 5-4 | Loss | -100 | 8 h 25 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units DeSclafani has pitched well over his last four starts, going 2-0 with a 1.52 ERA and 28 strikeouts across 23 2/3 innings. The 29-year-old native of New Jersey missed much of the past two seasons because of injury but has gone 9-9 with a 4.62 ERA in his last 28 starts. Belt is 5-for-7 with a home run against DeSclafani, who is 2-1 with a 6.23 ERA in four career starts versus San Francisco - including a 12-4 victory Monday. After tossing five scoreless innings in his previous start, Samardzija allowed four runs over five innings in a no-decision against Cincinnati on Sunday. The former Notre Dame wide receiver allowed three home runs in the first inning but settled in and retired his last 13 batters. Samardzija owns a 3-5 record with a 4.17 ERA in 27 career games (13 starts) versus the Reds while holding Votto to nine hits in 39 at-bats with 11 strikeouts. |
05-11-19 | Pirates v. Cardinals -182 | 2-1 | Loss | -182 | 4 h 26 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Pittsburgh won last night to go be 18-17, but both on the road and overall they have been outscored by at least a run per game. That type of performance comes back to bite you generally. They have been outscored by 40 runs, which puts them at an expected record of 13-22. St. Louis, on the other hand, is an outstanding 14-7 at home, outscoring opponents by 1.6 runs in this situation with a team OPS of .780. Card’s starter Miles Mikolas does his best work at home with a 3.12 ERA and 0.846 WHIP in his four home starts. Pirate starter Jordan Lyles is a young journeyman difficult to buy into. In his last three starts he has a 4.02 ERA and a 1.468 WHIP which tells us more runs are on the way. |
05-11-19 | Angels -135 v. Orioles | 7-2 | Win | 100 | 3 h 29 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Harvey had a run of two consecutive quality starts come to an end when he was knocked around for five runs on as many hits - one homer - over 4 2/3 innings against Houston on Sunday. The 30-year-old yielded a total of three runs and five hits over 13 innings in his two previous turns against the New York Yankees and Kansas City. Harvey is making his first career start against Baltimore and is 1-1 with a 3.63 ERA in three road outings. Bundy is coming off his best outing of the season after holding the Tampa Bay Rays to three hits over 7 1/3 scoreless innings to earn his first win last Saturday. The Oklahoma native owns 38 strikeouts in 35 2/3 innings but surrendered nine home runs in that span. Bundy served up three homers over 4 1/3 innings during his lone start against the Angels last season and was charged with seven runs - five earned - in the loss. |
05-11-19 | Brewers v. Cubs -120 | 1-2 | Win | 100 | 2 h 48 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Hamels received his third straight no-decision on Monday when he allowed three runs on five hits across six innings in a 6-5 loss to Miami. The 35-year-old San Diego native gave up eight runs over 26 innings in his first four starts this season before yielding 10 across 16 2/3 frames in his last four outings. Ryan Braun is 13-for-43 with three homers against Hamels, who beat Milwaukee with six innings of two-run ball on April 6 and improved to 8-3 lifetime versus the Brewers. |
05-10-19 | Phillies -146 v. Royals | 1-5 | Loss | -146 | 9 h 18 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Philadelphia starter, Arrieta worked at least six innings for the seventh time in eight starts on Saturday but was left with a no-decision despite allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits against Washington. The 33-year-old will be making just his third start on the road after splitting the first two and allowing just one homer and an ERA of 2.77 while striking out 15 against two walks. Hamilton (3-for-18) and Martin Maldonado (2-for-11) have struggled versus Arrieta, who sports a 2-0 mark with a 3.70 ERA in four career starts against the Royals. Kansas City starter, Bailey snapped a two-start losing skid in which he recorded consecutive four-run outings by allowing just two runs in six innings of a 15-3 romp at Detroit on Saturday. The 33-year-old was taken deep for the first time since surrendering three homers in a 13-5 setback to Seattle on April 8. Andrew McCutchen is 16-for-51 with 11 walks against Bailey, who owns a 1-4 record with a 3.74 ERA in 11 career starts versus the Phillies. |
05-10-19 | Angels -174 v. Orioles | 8-3 | Win | 100 | 8 h 12 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Los Angeles starter, Cahill has struggled mightily since recording his lone win of the season on April 8, surrendering nine homers en route to posting an 0-2 mark in his last four starts (15 2/3 innings). The 31-year-old also walked 10 batters to drive up his pitch counts as he failed to escape the fifth inning in each of those four outings. Chris Davis (3-for-19, eight strikeouts) and Mark Trumbo (2-for-12) have struggled mightily versus Cahill, who owns a 3-1 record with a 1.97 ERA and 0.91 WHIP in five career starts against the Orioles. Baltimore starter, Straily fell to 0-2 in his last three outings after allowing five runs on nine hits in 4 1/3 innings of a 7-0 setback against Tampa Bay last Friday. The 30-year-old surrendered a homer versus the Rays, marking the eighth time that he had been take deep in six trips to the mound (23 innings). Straily sports a 2-4 mark and a 7.49 ERA and 1.66 WHIP in nine career starts against the Angels while permitting the club to bat .333 versus him. |
05-10-19 | Brewers v. Cubs -121 | 7-0 | Loss | -121 | 4 h 34 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Gonzalez has solidified Milwaukee’s rotation since rejoining the club in late April. The 33-year-old has been fairly efficient — he needed only 87 pitches to get through 5 1/3 innings of one-run ball Saturday against the New York Mets. Gonzalez is 3-3 with a 3.06 ERA in 10 starts against the Cubs. The Cubs have won each of Quintana’s last five starts, and he has earned the win in four of them while posting a 1.93 ERA over that stretch. The 30-year-old beat St. Louis last time out, allowing two runs over six innings for his fourth quality start in five outings. Quintana is 6-3 with a 2.51 ERA in 12 starts against the Brewers. In addition, the Cubs are 7-0 home in Game One of a series this season, and Quintana is 3-0 with 1.80 ERA and 1.05 WHIP at home as opposed to 6.32 ERA with 1.40 WHIP away this season. |
05-09-19 | Nationals v. Dodgers -141 | 6-0 | Loss | -141 | 9 h 9 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Washington has won just three of their last 14 games while averaging a paltry 2.7 runs per game with a sub-.600 team OPS. They haven’t faced many lefties this year, but haven’t had success against the ones they have faced with a 2-6 recors after losing last night to Clayton Kershaw. Hill will need help from the prolific offense behind him and he should get it. Corbin pitched well against LA last year, but his team did lose all three starts. This Dodger team is on another level at home as they hit .283/.360/.498 as a team at home which is good for a 6.2 runs per game average. In his last three starts, Corbin has allowed 12 total runs in 17 innings. |
05-09-19 | Braves v. Diamondbacks -103 | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 9 h 4 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The visitors hand the ball to Mike Soroka, while the home side counters with Luke Weaver. These two opposed each other in Atlanta back on April 18th and the D-Backs won that contest by a score of 4-1. Weaver (3-1, 3.29 ERA) went five-scoreless, while Soroka (3-1, 1.14) allowed one run over five frames of work. The Braves come in with zero momentum though after getting swept in LA and I think they’ll have their hands full here in this difficult road venue as well. Consider that Arizona is also expected to welcome back slugger Alex Avila to the line-up in this series. |
05-08-19 | Angels v. Tigers -109 | 3-10 | Win | 100 | 6 h 47 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Boyd continued his strong start to the year with seven innings and two runs allowed in a win over Kansas City on Friday, his sixth consecutive quality start. He fanned nine batters for the second straight game and has 57 strikeouts over 44 1/3 innings while holding opponents to a .205 average. Simmons is 3-for-3 with a home run and a walk versus Boyd. |
05-08-19 | Twins v. Blue Jays +101 | 9-1 | Loss | -100 | 6 h 48 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Minnesota right-hander Kyle Gibson (2-1, 4.68 ERA) who has compiled a 5.01 ERA in eight career starts against the Blue Jays. Gibson has been particularly poor at Rogers Centre where he has posted a 7.56 ERA in three career starts. The Jays hand the ball to right-hander Trent Thornton (0-3, 4.08 ERA) who is still in search of his first major league victory despite some solid performances of late. Toronto has won Thornton's last two starts with the 25-year-old rookie allowing a total of one run on three hits over 12 innings. |
05-07-19 | Mets v. Padres +138 | 7-6 | Loss | -100 | 11 h 48 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units New York starter, Syndergaard won National League Pitcher of the Week honors by recording 10 strikeouts while tossing a four-hit shutout and adding a solo homer in a 1-0 win over Cincinnati on Thursday. The superb outing followed a four-start stretch during which the 26-year-old allowed 18 earned runs in 22 frames. Syndergaard is 1-2 with a 4.50 ERA in three career starts against San Diego, striking out 24 batters in 18 innings. San Diego starter, Quantrill is making his second career start after losing to Atlanta in his major-league debut. The 24-year-old allowed two runs and six hits over 5 2/3 innings, striking out three and walking one. Quantrill, who was the eighth overall pick by the Padres in the 2016 draft, posted a 3-1 record and 4.68 ERA in five starts for Triple-A El Paso prior to being recalled. |
05-07-19 | Marlins v. Cubs -157 | 2-5 | Win | 100 | 9 h 47 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Chicago starter, Lester has put his hamstring injury behind him as he has allowed just one run and five hits over 12 innings in two starts since being activated. The 35-year-old was superb while pitching in his native state of Washington on Wednesday, giving up one hit and one walk with eight strikeouts over seven scoreless frames in a victory over Seattle. Lester is 2-1 with one complete game and a 5.01 ERA in six career starts against the Marlins. |
05-07-19 | Angels v. Tigers +131 | 5-2 | Loss | -100 | 8 h 45 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Los Angeles was marching toward .500 with wins in four straight and six of seven before serving up a total of 24 runs in two losses to the Houston Astros in Mexico. The Tigers enter the series with some momentum after earning a 5-2 walk-off win in 10 innings Sunday when Brandon Dixon hit a three-run homer to turn away the Kansas City Royals and give Detroit a series win. Left-hander Daniel Norris will get things started for the Tigers who scattered one run and five hits across five innings at Philadelphia on Wednesday but did not stick around long enough to factor in the decision. |
