Taking the NATS here. Generally I will play a top team off a shutout. Add in that they get a soft tosser like Colon, and I am all in. Not that it could matter, but the NYP has a front page of Colon and his 'secret' family. The guy seems to have 2 kids with his side chick (4 with wife) and the jump-off is calling him a dead beat. Now, this isn't news to Bartolo, but I am sure he isn't happy with it being tabloid front page material. Back to the baseball side of things. GG has a tidy 1.93 ERA in 7 starts with just 2 wins to show for it. .224 BA Against 1.12 WHIP not terrible numbers. He has given up more than 2 earned once, (5) against the Cubs. Colon will give up his 3 runs a game. He'll go 7 for you. That is what he does. Nats 8-2 in Gio's last 10 starts vs Mets. 4* Money Maker WASHINGTON NATIONALS

Taking the RANGERS here. Well. We won on the A's game 1. Lost with Rangers last night. And are back to Texas here. Martin Perez is rocking a 1. 56 ERA so far in his 3 May starts. A .180 BA Against isn't too shabby either. What is there to say about Rich Hill? Hats off to a career year at 36. I just think the Rangers get it done here after last nights tough loss. Taking the RANGERS here. We cashed with Oakland last night. But we will flip sides and back Hamels as the short road fave. Hahn gets the nod out of Triple A tonight. Now, he has 2 starts under his belt already this year going 12 innings (4 runs) for a perfect 3 ERA. The guy really doesn't have terrible career numbers (14-11 3.21 32 games 30 starts). He should really be given a spot at the end of someones rotation. But in all fairness. He isn't Cole Hamles and the Rangers coming off a loss. I thought we would see a Texas let down last night and we got it. Ranges 16-1 in his last 17 starts. We know what we are getting from the lefty. 200 innings 200 Ks, solid ERA. At this price, can't shy away. 4* Money Maker TEXAS RANGERS

Taking the ROYALS here. Defending champs trying to find a little bit of the last 2 years magic. They have struggled so far this year. But I do like what I have seen from them on a whole. Porcello has been savior in the rotation for the Sox. 6-1 with a .99 WHIP, respectable ERA for sure. Just feel like the regression is coming. I am not saying he isn't going to go somewhere like 16-8 or along those lines. But he isn't a big strike out guy. His BA against is nearly 70 points below his career numbers. So I don't think we are seeing some newly invented guy. I think we are seeing a guy pitching about his head. Porcello pitches to contact most of the time. Royals are patient and are too good to be slumping for extended periods of time. Ventura has been impressive in his 3 home starts (.177 BA against 2.65 ERA). 4* Money Maker KC ROYALS

Taking the WHITE SOX here. I hate going against Keuchel. Guy made me a ton and was great in my fantasy league last season. But that was last year. Not the same guy. Well, maybe in 3 starts he has been. But every time you think he is about to start something, he gets shelled the next outing. He has given up 4 HRs his last two starts, and this White Sox can bring some lumber to the box. Now Rodon sure isn't pitching like Cy Young. In this spot though, I think the Sox have a little bit more offense, and frankly, one of the better bullpens so far of the young season. 4* Money Maker CHICAGO WHITE SOX

Taking the MARLINS here. We cashed here last night and will come back again. First. How does this line swing like this? Velasquez is the hot young arm right? Well, he has been average at best his last 2 starts giving up 4 runs in both (6innings both games). The Ks have been about 1 an inning which is a lot different then him K'ing 25 in his first 15 innings of work this year. Let's be honest. We know the Phillies are suppose to be in a big rebuild. They started off very hot, very impressive. But this Marlins team has some solid pieces with a little bit of major league success behind them. I'll grab the veteran Chen and friends tonight. 4* Money Maker MIAMI MARLINS

Taking OAKLAND here. Have to fade the Texas train here with Holland on the hill. I will be the first to say I had these guys as AL West Champs if they can hold it together with Yu coming back. But Holland, I think they should start looking somewhere else. Can't find a much worse option, especially on the road. Holland brings a miserable 7.40 road ERA to town in 4 starts. 24 hits in 20+ innings, 17 earned. Yikes. Hitters slapping him at nearly a .290 mark. The 10 walk/ 12 strike out ratio doesn't help matters either. I can't discount a bit of let down spot either from Texas. They took 2 of 3 from the Jays, and started a melee. There is really not a much of a positive spin for me to place on Manaea and his 11+ ERA except that he has an awesome first name (Sean!). Still, I think Texas is in a bit of spot where the A's can steal a home win. The numbers show Holland is bad, but Manaea's has his beat. Yet they are favored having lost 7 of 10, while Rangers won 7 of 10. I tend to jump on lines like this, and long term wise, we have made money doing it. 4* Money Maker OAKLAND A's

Taking the WHITE SOX here. You know I am not big on faves, especially a 140 road favorite. But Chris Sale is something special. Also, we aren't getting any real value at +110 on the RL either. Sale has been crushing it all year. A perfect 7-0, 1.79 ERA .77 WHIP and a BA against of .165 - Oh, did I mention his 1.21 career ERA vs the Yanks. Speaking of the Bombers. That is what they have been doing recently. But with the exception of David Price, they haven't faced a guy like Sale. And even against Price. We have seen the Yanks able to get runs of stud pitchers who they see often in division games. Sale is a very tough lefty. And I still the Yanks have several gaps in their lineup that need to be addressed before I take them seriously against a proven guy like this. 4* Money Maker CHICAGO WHITE SOX

Taking the DBACKS here. Almost want to grab them +190 or whatever they are on the RL. The Giants offense had been awful scoring 1 run the last 3 games and 3 runs the previous 4 before getting on the board 5 times yesterday. Not sure they will have an easy time here vs Greinke. I was quick to fade the big FA signee out of the gate, but he appears to be rounding into shape his last 2 starts. In fact, if we through the STL blitz against him, he has been good in 4 of his last 5. Arizona just had a 5 game win streak snapped, but can get back on the horse here tonight. Arizona has won the last 4 against SF. Cueto has 2 absolute gems in 2 of his last 3 starts. I always liked this guy. Because there is no way on God's green Earth I can live with myself taking -220 faves and going 0-2. Pomeranz is sporting a 2.12 ERA with a WHIP of 1.09 and .176 BA Against. I can live taking a dog with a guy like that on the hills. Even against the mighty Cubs offense. Lackey is what, like 50. In all seriousness. He is a nice veteran here. But the guy has a 4+ ERA and I really think that his best days are far behind him. I know the Cubs have been absolutely brilliant so far, but this line is inflated based on them scoring huge amount of runs. It's a day-night double dip. Some guys will get rested. Taking the MARINERS here. Another case of a line I am concerned about. But I make my money long term in MLB by backing solid starters and not laying heavy numbers. So when I can get King Felix, even with less velocity, at home, laying a short price, I will grab it. Even with a drop in MPH, Hernandez is still posting solid numbers. K's are down, just 29 in 36 innings, but with 2300 innings logged, that is expected. He is still producing a .204 BA against after being roughed up by the A's for 8 runs on 9 hits in just 4 innings of work. He has great career numbers vs TB (7-2 1.90 15 starts) and I attribute the blip against Oakland as a team that sees him more, so they can get him on a bad day. TB just beat up on the Angels who I have been an under team from the start. They send Matt Moore here who is also off his worse start of the season. With 4 straight wins, Rays are now 9-9 on the road. Seattle is just 5-7 at home, but with the hot hitting of Cano, Kyle Seager finding his stroke, and the powerful Nelson Cruz lurking, I think we have a safe play here. 4* Money Maker SEATTLE MARINERS

And that first start was basically because of quirky scheduling and not pitching at all. The kid has been a beast since. 29Ks in 27 innings. Dodgers are home after playing a weekend set across the country, in another country for that matter vs the Blue Jays. Mets a short drive away after playing San Diego. Kazmir, though with a nice strike out to inning ratio, has a bit of a high ERA which tells me, and you for that matter, he gives up hits at the wrong time. If he gives up his normal 4 runs in 5, 6 innings, should be another W for Matz and the Mets. 4* Money Maker NY METS

The guy has a 5+ ERA, teams hitting over .300 against him, and a 1.40 WHIP. And we are sitting basically at PK vs Kluber. Indians bats have been up and down yes. But, Astros are a strike out machine as a team and are facing a guy who Ks a man an inning. His last 3 games have been gems. He did start out rocky with a low point of the Mets rocking him for 9 hits and 6 earned in 6 innings of work. But minus that game, the guy is putting up Cy Young numbers. 3 earned his last 24 innings with 23Ks and 12 hits. Taking the ROYALS here. Well, the reigning World Series Champs are looking more like chumps dropping 7 of 10. But the Bombers are not much of a bombing team. Yes they might explode against the Red Sox for a few runs. But as we saw last night, this offense is nothing special. It is old and needs HRs to win. Yanks feel good having won 2 of 3 from their rivals. But KC needs to start putting some wins together. White Sox are off to a fast start and are looking to be this years Royals surprising everyone. So we get Nova who has pitched poorly out of the pen for what will probably be 5 innings depending on his pitches. KC lineup deep and works pitch counts. Both bullpens are above average. Taking TAMPA BAY here. I have written here about my fade train of Jered Weaver. The guy with an 83 MPH fastball that is trying to a pass himself off as a MLB starting pitcher. I will be first to say that a 3-1 record in 5 starts hasn't shown me any profit. But the odds-makers know what is coming as he hasn't be favored more than 125 and is in pick'em most of the time. Like today. Before getting shelled my the Brewers for 7 runs in 5 innings, Weaver had a .286 BA against 1.41 WHIP with 11Ks and 7 walks in 26 innings. Those numbers ballooned to .325 BA against and 1.62 WHIP. Not saying that TB is going to rock out 11 hits in 5 innings here. But the fact is Weaver is out there soft tossing balls to guys who get paid to hit. With the loss of Richards at the top of the rotation, Pujols at .202 with 140 million due the next 5 years, Simmons hitting .216, this team is a mess. LeBron can carry 4 guys on the court. He can always have ball. Trout can't hit in all 9 slots and isn't a pitcher. Tampa Bay 5-1 last 6 times faces Weaver including 5 straight here at Angel Stadium. 4* Money Maker TAMPA BAY RAYS

Taking the MARINERS here. Have to back Felix at this price even it looks too good to be true. Fact is that bullpens have been killing me lately. But at least here I get a guy who will give at least 7, possible 8 innings of 1 run or less ball. Hernandez has been a beast this year with a .165 BA against, 1.38 ERA and 28 Ks in 32 innings, with just 19 hits allowed. It is tough to sweep teams, especially on the road. But Seattle is hitting the ball and even facing a young left, I think they can scrape something together here. Hernandez struck out 10 A's back on April 10 giving up 3 hits in 7 innings in a game won by Oakland in extra innings. 3-1 M's seems about right this afternoon. 4* Money Maker SEATTLE MARINERS

Taking the DBACKS here. Just want to fade STL in this spot. They have won 2 of the first 3 in this game set. They locked up a winning road trip. But I think this is a rest spot for some guys as they face the Nats tomorrow at home. Wacha is sporting a tidy 2.82 ERA, but I look at a .300 BA against and a WHIP 1.43 that says regression is all but on the horizon. 4* Money Maker ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS

Taking the ANGELS here. Why not go for the sweep? I like Trope. This kid is off to a nice start and Chris Young has been anything but in his first appearances of the season. The guy allowed 2 earned in 6 innings and lower his ERA from 7.90 to 6.41. Teams still hitting him at a nearly .300 clip. Tropeano has been a nice addition filling in here. A 1.69 ERA in 3 starts shows that. I would like to see him get past a 6th inning, but if he will have us in the game regardless. 4* Money Maker LAA ANGELS

He has been a beast in the minors and is just 21. We have seen young guys come up and be successful lately. Taking the ROYALS here. Weaver is one of the pitchers on my fade away list. And though he is off to a decent start, at this price, we will still go against the veteran. Royals have one of those line-ups that will make him work. Add in his poor velocity, and I think we get 3-5 runs by the 5th and that should be more than enough for Volquez who has pitched strongly this year. Taking the WHITE SOX here. We were ambushed last night by the Angels, but that is why I think we get a bounce back performance here from Chicago. Latos has been solid so far.
