Sports Betting NFL Line Moves and MLB Top Trends

For Thursday, we thought we had another addition with the Virginia Tech/Georgia Tech total going from 41.5 to 44, but, it has settled back at 42 as of this morning. Check out today’s football and baseball action. Studying line moves can become a very profitable venture if you know what to look for.

NFL – Thursday  (101) SAN FRANCISCO at (102) ST. LOUIS  8:25 ET  NFLN

Both these NFC West division rivals are averaging less than 20 points a game and own a 1-2 record, far below their expectations coming into the season. Colin Kaepernick and Sam Bradford have not played well the last couple of weeks and their offensive lines are not moving the opposition at the line of scrimmage. Football bettors do not trust either offense and have lowered the total from 44 to 42. The 49ers come in 11-3 OVER vs. defenses allowing 235 or more passing yards a game. UpdateThis total is more unsettled than a three year old, going back and forth between 43 and 42. Just over 55 percent are taking the OVER. SWM Take – Play Over

MLB – (911) TAMPA BAY at (912) N.Y. YANKEES 7:05 ET  SUN, YES

The Yankees will be home for the postseason, but Tampa Bay is making a strong move late to secure their presence beyond the regular season. The Rays have won 11 of 14 and their past six straight and are one game ahead of Cleveland for the top wild card spot. Tampa Bay looks for the sweep of New York and sends Alex Cobb Alex Cobb (10-3, 2.90 ERA) up the hill. Cobb is 3-1 with a 2.34 ERA in six career starts against the Yankees, including a sizzling 2-0 with a 1.61 ERA in three outings this year. The Rays have been raised from -115 to 130 money line favorites and they are 20-3 after a game where they had six or more extra base hits since last season. SWM TakeTampa Bay wins

MLB – (915) CLEVELAND at (916) MINNESOTA 8:10 ET  STO, FSNO

The combination of getting hot at the right time and facing weaker competition has served Cleveland well. The Indians are scalding in winning 11 of 13 (six in a row) and have only played three games against teams with a winning record in that span (both their losses). This will continue as they begin an all important four-game series against Minnesota, leading Texas by a game for the last playoff position. The Tribe opened as -155 road favorites and has been jettisoned to -170 and is thumping the opposition by 29-11 in all games since last Thursday. Cleveland is a commanding 21-4 as a favorite of -150 or more this season. SWM TakeCleveland wins
