Sports Betting Line Moves and Weekend Top Trends

We have you covered for today and tomorrow in the NBA, college basketball, the NHL and bowl games for line moves. As we say every day, understanding line moves can build your bankroll.

NBA – (803) MILWAUKEE at (804) CLEVELAND 7:35 ET  FSWI, FSOH

No, basketball bettors are not becoming infatuated with the Bucks, the NBA’s worst team, dropping them from +9 to +7.5 road underdogs. Instead, they are concerned about the health of Cleveland’s Kyrie Irving and Dion Waiters, both who are listed as questionable with various ailments. Milwaukee is a sordid 8-17 ATS this season, while the Cavaliers have covered five in a row and seven of eight. SWM TakeLean Cleveland

NBA – (815) PHOENIX at (816) DENVER 9:05 ET  FSAZ, ALT

The total is crumbling in the Mile High City, down from 207.5 to 206. A good chunk of the reason is Denver is on a 5-0 UNDER roll, with its offense is a whopping eight points below its season average in this stretch. Conversely, Phoenix is 8-2 OVER, but we found when the total is 200 to 209.5, teams like the Suns having gone over the total by 36 or more points in their last five games, winning between 51% and 60% of their games on the season, are 71-24 UNDER since 2009. SWM TakeLean Under

CBB – (819) SMU at (820) WYOMING  9:00 ET  ROOT

Wyoming is 6-0 and 4-0 ATS in Laramie this season, but schedule has been softer than Dallas Cowboys defense, with Rhode Island the toughest opponent.  These Cowboys are the betting choice having been taken from a pick to -2, hoping for another monster game from Larry Nance Jr., who scored a career-high 38 points last Sunday. SMU is 9-2 (3-4 ATS) and has not faced a who’s-who in college basketball, but has five starters returning. The Mustangs are shooting 51.4 percent from the field and 41.8 percent from way downtown (Marv Albert reference), while holding the opposition to just 35.7 percent on their attempts. Wyoming is 13-3 ATS after two consecutive non-conference games, but something tells us this could go the other way. SWM TakeSMU covers

NHL – (9) VANCOUVER at (10) CHICAGO  8:05 ET  TSN, NHLN

The defending Stanley Cup champions are on a similar mission having the most points in the NHL this season. Since losing three straight, Chicago has won five of six and each was decisive, by two or more goals. After winning seven in a row, Vancouver has lost their first two games in a Central Time Zone road trip and has gone from +150 to +170 money line underdogs. With the Blackhawks 15-3 after allowing one goal or less in their previous game since last season, it is evident why pucks players prefer the Hawks. SWM TakeChicago wins

ROYAL PURPLE LAS VEGAS BOWL – DEC. 21/ 3:30 E  ABC (reported previously)

(203) USC vs. (204) FRESNO STATE

The first bowl game being looked at by football bettors is in Vegas of all places. Not sure if they like USC or are just really uncertain about Fresno State’s defense, which is giving up 29 points a game and gave up more than 37 points on four separate occasions. The Trojans have been beefed up from -4.5 to -6. The Bulldogs defense has to step up as they are 41-82 ATS when they allow 28 or more points. UpdateThose betting this bowl game are satisfied with this number and just over 60 percent are on the Men of Troy. SWM TakeLean Fresno State

FAMOUS IDAHO POTATO  BOWL – DEC. 21/ 5:30 E  ESPN

(205) BUFFALO vs. (206) SAN DIEGO STATE

Buffalo opened as a three-point favorite in this contest of evenly-matched teams. The Bulls will be accustomed to the Boise, ID weather, with temperatures in the 30’s and a chance of snow, compared to their thinner-blood foe from San Diego. One potential difference in the game is the Buffalo prefers to run the ball and the Aztecs unusual 3-3-5 defense was 22nd in the country in stopping opposing runners, which could give them an edge. Though Buffalo has the better record (8-4 vs. 7-5), San Diego State plays in the better conference and the Bulls are 1-8 ATS away games when playing against a team with a winning record. Add it up and this is why the Aztecs are now favored by two points. SWM TakeSan Diego State covers
