Sports Betting Line Moves and Today’s Top Trends

Make the time to look over Friday’s line moves in the various sports for wagering opportunities. Studying line moves can become a very profitable venture if you know what to look for. Check back Sunday right here for the latest from the NFL.

NBA – (803) PHILADELPHIA at (804) TORONTO 7:05 ET  CSN, TSN

Philadelphia surprised people with their 3-0 start, after oddsmakers had a listed total on them of just 16.5 wins for the season. The Sixers have since settled into being a bad team and lately, even their offense has soured in scoring 90.5 points a game in their last four tries. Basketball bettors are placing more weight on 76ers offensive struggles compared to having the worst scoring defense in the NBA and lowered the total from 206 to 204. Toronto is 16-5 UNDER against a team with a win percentage of 25 to 40 percent since last season. SWM TakePlay Under

NBA – (805) CHARLOTTE at (806) INDIANA  7:05 ET  SPSO, FSIN

Charlotte has been much improved in the first quarter of the NBA season with a 10-12 (13-8-1 ATS) record. Where the Bobcats have changed is on the defensive end, holding opponents 5.2 points below their average and they are second only to Indiana in points allowed. The oddsmakers release of 182 for the total has been deemed too low by those making NBA picks and it has been raised dramatically to 185. Offhand, this does not appear to make sense for two defensive-minded squads, who have played UNDER eight straight times. SWM TakePlay Under

NBA – (813) L.A. LAKERS at (814) OKLAHOMA CITY 8:05 ET  ESPN

The return of Kobe Bryant has created excitement if not victories for the Lakers. Those betting basketball are not calling for much change tonight either, raising L.A. from +10.5 to +13 against one of the best teams in the NBA in Oklahoma City. Because of injuries, Kobe will have to move to point guard and the Lakers offensive would seem to have little flow and trying to match points with the Thunder could be a challenge. Los Angeles is 10-21 ATS as a road underdog since last season and could have an uphill battle. SWM TakeLean with Oklahoma City

CBB – (829) IOWA at (830) IOWA STATE 9:30 ET  ESPNU

The Iowa Hawkeyes are proving to be one of the deepest teams in the country as coach  Fran McCaffery has have 10 players averaging at least 15 minutes per game and collectively are averaging 89.5 PPG and they rank fourth nationally with a scoring margin of plus-24.6 a game. But this is a state rivalry battle and for just the second time ever, both schools are in the Top 25. By contrast, Iowa State goes just seven deep, but is they ever productive, ranked second in the country in scoring at 91.7 PPG. Those making sports picks are riding the home team, moving them from -2.5 to -4. The Cyclones are 6-3 SU and ATS against the Hawkeyes on their floor the last 15 years. SWM TakeLean with Iowa State

NHL – (51) NEW JERSEY at (52) PITTSBURGH  7:05 ET  MSG+, ROOT

Though New Jersey is slumping in losing seven of 10, Pittsburgh’s mounting injury woes have caused greater concern among those making sports picks. The Penguins have catapulted from -205 to -170 on the money line. The Devils defense has been leaky in surrendering 15 goals in four games, but they have tallied four goals in each of their prior two outings and are 9-2 after scoring four goals or more in consecutive contests the last three seasons. SWM TakeLean with Pittsburgh

CFB – Saturday (303) ARMY vs. (304) NAVY 3:00 ET CBS

This is becoming increasingly difficult to consider as a rivalry with how one-sided this military matchup has become. The Navy has won 11 consecutive times, covering the spread in seven of them against the Army. The Midshipmen opened as 10.5-point favorites and on Monday were moved to -12.5. Besides not having as much overall talent, the Black Knights cannot find the end zone, averaging just 11.3 points a game during this streak. The Army is 2-9 ATS as an underdog of 10.5 to 21 points. Update – A modest buyback from earlier in the week to 12 points, with the Middies enjoying 75 percent support. SWM TakeLean with Navy
