Sports Betting Line Moves and Today’s Top Trends

By Doug Upstone

On Thursday, a little bit of everything for line moves in all the various sports for today. Studying line moves can become a very profitable venture if you know what to look for.

NFL – (107) NEW ORLEANS at (108) ATLANTA 8:25 ET  NFLN

On the topic of fall from grace, Atlanta hosted the NFC title game roughly 10 months ago and now they are among the worst teams in the NFL. Those making NFL picks are long past thinking the Falcons can generate any revival and taken these Birds from +7 to +9 as division home underdogs. Atlanta is 2-10 ATS playing against a team with a winning record the last three seasons. Update – This number has been bouncing around between 8.5 and 9 all day, with better than two-thirds wagering on the favorite. SWM Take – New Orleans covers

CFB – (111) RICE at (112) UAB 7:30 ET  FS1

Rice is still in position to take C-USA West Division if North Texas were to slip up. To this point the Owls are the betting choice, having risen three points to -18 against UAB, who is 2-8 (3-7 ATS) this season. The Blazers have played better at home (2-1 ATS), but allow 5.8 yards per rush and Rice is 15th in the country in rushing. Update On The Strip, Rice is anywhere from -17.5 to -18.5, however, at offshore books which cater to sharper clientele, the Owls are at -17. Rice is drawing 85% support. SWM Take – Lean with Rice

CFB – (113) UNLV at (114) AIR FORCE 9:30 ET  ESPNU  *New

This is one of the more interesting line moves of the week, with 2-8 Air Force flying from -1 to -2.5 points against 5-5 UNLV. The Falcons deserve credit playing at home and are 7-1 and 5-2 ATS in Colorado Springs versus the Rebels. But in reviewing comparative opponents, UNLV is 2-1 and 3-0 ATS, outscoring common foes by five points a contest, while the Air Force is 0-3 and 1-2 ATS, being outpointed by 14.3 PPG. We know the Rebels are 0-10 ATS in road games having lost two out of three games, but we also found the Flyboys are 0-7 ATS at home when the total is between 56.5 and 63. SWM Take – Lean with UNLV

NBA – (703) CHICAGO at (704) DENVER 10:35 ET  TNT  *New

It took Denver four games to finally crack the century mark in points scored and they have not looked back since, averaging 109.1 PPG in their past seven outings. Though Chicago remains one of the top defensive teams in the NBA, basketball bettors see more points being scored at altitude and raised the total from 196 to 199.5. Here is what seems to be an oddity on the Nuggets; they are 15-5 UNDER home after two consecutive road games the last three seasons. SWM Take – Play Under

CBB – (729) GEORGIA at (730) DAVIDSON 5:30 ET  ESPNU  *New

At the Charleston Classic, despite a 0-3 start to the season, Davidson has been switched from a one point underdog to a 1.5-point favorite in this neutral court affair. The Wildcats have faced ACC powers Duke and Virginia and has yet to find their offensive groove this season. Georgia looks to have their usual team, athletes with a low basketball IQ. SWM Take – Lean with Davidson
