College football action on Saturday afternoon and a pair of teams from the Atlantic Coast Conference will square off as the Florida State Seminoles rumble with the Syracuse Orange. This contest has a start time of 12:00 pm ET and will take place at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse. These teams met last year and the Seminoles won at home by a score of 27-24.

Lines: Florida State -3 … Over/Under 68

A Look At The Seminoles

The Florida State Seminoles have not had the start that they were looking for in Willie Taggart’s first season. They were blasted 34-3 by the Virginia Tech Hokies in their first game. The Noles then followed it up with a 36-26 win over Samford, but they did trail that game 23-21 heading to the 4th quarter. They were 31 point favorites in that game and should have not struggled like they did. The Noles will look to get on track in this one against a Syracuse team that is improved. Last year, the Noles won this game by just three points and that was at home, so they have their work cut out for them in this one. The offense is a big question mark as it has not looked as good as expected.

They are 109th in the nation in rushing and that is a surprise as Cam Akers is considered to be the 2nd best back in the league. They Noles must get that ground game going or it could be another long game for them. The defense is 122nd in the nation against the pass and the Orange like to air it out. Stopping their passing game is also key here.

A Look At The Orange

The Syracuse Orange are off to a nice start as they have gone 2-0 out the game. Dino Babers has his offense clicking as they have scored 55 and 62 points in their first two games. Their task will be a bit tougher in this one as they are taking on a real FBS defense. They will be taking on a defense that is 122nd in the nation against and will look to exploit that in this game. The Orange are 69th in the nation in passing and 22nd in rushing. They have to hope for balance as it will keep the FSU defense. The problem for the Orange is on the defensive side of the ball. They come in ranked 108th in total yards allowed and 117th vs the pass. They have a shot of improving on that as the Noles have not been a good offensive team so far.

The Orange will be involved in many high scoring games this year as they have a strong offense and play no defense. That is why the OU line is so high for this one, but last year’s ga,e did put up just 51 points. We also note that the Noles do have a good defense and can’t score. It will be very interesting to see how this game plays out. If the real FSU offense shows up, then the Orange will be in trouble.
