A Look At The Rockies

The Rockies continue to hold a slim half-game lead over the Dodgers in the National League West and that makes this series very important for both teams. The Rockies are just 5-5 in their last 10 games and will hope to be a bit more consistent in this series. They just took on the Giants in a three games set in San Francisco and lost two of the three games. They lost the first two games of that series and were shut out in this games while taking the finale by a score of 3-2. Their offense is far better at home than on the road and it really showed in that series, but they also pitch far better on the road than at home.

The Rockies got a solid start from Antonio Senzatela on Sunday as he allowed just one ER on five hits and two walks while striking out five in 5 innings of work. He grabbed the win and is now 5-5 with a 4.81 ERA on the year while picking up his 40th save was Wade Davis. Senzatela also had a hit and drove in two of their three runs. The other RBI came from DJ LeMahieu. The Rockies have gone 41-34 on the road and they have averaged 4.19 rpg and have allowed 4.23 rpg in those games.

A Look At The Dodgers

The Los Angeles Dodgers failed to complete their sweep against the Cardinals over the weekend. They won the first three games but were blanked by a 5-0 score on Sunday Night Baseball. It was probably expected that the Dodgers would fall in that game after they pounded the Cards 17-4 on Saturday. St Louis was in pure revenge mode. The Dodgers have still been hot of late as they have gone 15-7 over their last 22 games. They now have a shot to take over first in the National League West as they trail the Rockies by just a half a game. It will not be easy as the Rockies have played well on the road this year.

Back to their 5-0 loss on Sunday night. The Dodgers mustered just four hits in the game and Justin Turner had two of them. He is now hitting .321 on the year and if he had enough at-bats, that would be good enough for 3rd in the league. Ross Stripling had a rough outing as he allowed three ERs on four hits and no walks in 3.1 innings of work. He is now 8-4 with a 2.77 ERA on the year. The Dodgers have gone 39-36 here at home for the year and they have averaged 4.28 rpg and have allowed 3.76 rpg in those games.
