CFL Picks This Week: Week 14 Best Bets & Predictions
2026 CFL Week 14 – Updated September 3, 2026
Looking for the best CFL picks this week? Rocketman Sports breaks down the complete Week 14 Canadian Football League card with betting lines, predictions, projected scores and our strongest early CFL betting positions.
Week 14 is one of the biggest weekends of the Canadian Football League season with the traditional Labour Day rivalry games highlighting the schedule.
Our objective is not to simply pick every favorite or predict the winner of every game. We are looking for betting numbers that give us value.
The difference between BC +3.5 and BC +2.5 can matter. The difference between Saskatchewan -3.5 and -5 can completely change whether a wager belongs on our card.
For that reason, every selection below includes a recommended betting range.

These are early Week 14 positions. CFL betting lines, quarterback status and injury information can change before kickoff. Always compare the current number with our recommended betting range.
Best CFL Bet #1: BC Lions +3.5 at Montreal
Pick: BC Lions +3.5
Projected Score: Montreal 32, BC 31
BC getting more than a field goal is our favorite early betting position of CFL Week 14.
The Lions enter Friday night’s matchup playing their best football of the season.
BC has won five consecutive games and averaged more than 33 points per game during that winning streak.
Nathan Rourke gives the Lions an explosive element at quarterback, while the emergence of Zander Horvath has made the BC rushing attack considerably more dangerous.
Horvath enters Week 14 averaging approximately six yards per carry.
That balance matters against Montreal.
The Alouettes have an elite offense of their own, but Montreal’s defense surrendered 447 net offensive yards in its previous game.
BC therefore has multiple paths to keep this matchup within one possession.
There is also an interesting head-to-head element.
BC has defeated Montreal in six consecutive meetings dating back to 2023.
That history is not enough by itself to make a wager, but it reinforces our belief that the Lions are capable of competing with the East Division powerhouse.
The market is asking Montreal to win by more than a field goal.
We believe this matchup is closer to a coin flip than that spread implies.
Our projected final is:
Montreal 32, BC 31.
Montreal can win the football game and BC can still cash the wager.
Rocketman CFL Pick: BC +3.5
BC vs Montreal Total Lean
The total also deserves attention.
BC has been scoring at an elite level during its five-game winning streak, while Montreal has consistently produced 30-point offensive performances.
Our projected score produces 63 total points.
If the market offers 60.5 or lower, we would lean toward the Over.
Once the total climbs beyond approximately 62, much of that value disappears.
CFL Pick #2: Saskatchewan Roughriders -3.5 vs Winnipeg
Pick: Saskatchewan -3.5 or Better
Projected Score: Saskatchewan 30, Winnipeg 24
Winnipeg-Saskatchewan is exactly what CFL Labour Day Weekend is supposed to look like.
The rivalry is intense, the crowd in Saskatchewan should be outstanding and the game carries significant implications in the West.
Our early preference is Saskatchewan.
The current market has generally placed the Roughriders between approximately -3.5 and -4.5.
That difference matters.
At Saskatchewan -3.5, we have enough value to make the Riders one of our Week 14 selections.
If the line climbs through -4.5 toward -5, the play becomes much less attractive.
Saskatchewan has shown enough offensive balance and defensive consistency to justify being favored at home.
Winnipeg remains dangerous and should never be dismissed in this rivalry, which is another reason we do not want to chase a larger number.
The official CFL.ca panel also strongly favors Saskatchewan in this matchup, with 80% of its writers selecting the Roughriders to win.
Our projection:
Saskatchewan 30, Winnipeg 24.
That gives Saskatchewan enough room to cover a field-goal spread while keeping us cautious if the number moves significantly higher.
Rocketman CFL Pick: Saskatchewan -3.5 or Better
Saskatchewan vs Winnipeg Total Lean
The current total is sitting in the upper 50s.
Our projection produces 54 points.
That creates an early Under 57.5 lean, although we prefer the Saskatchewan side as our primary position.
CFL Pick #3: Toronto Argonauts -3.5 at Hamilton
Pick: Toronto -3.5 or Better
Projected Score: Toronto 31, Hamilton 24
Toronto and Hamilton renew the Battle of the QEW on Monday afternoon.
This will already be the third matchup of the season between the teams, with each club having taken one of the first two meetings.
That makes the rubber match especially important.
Montreal has created separation in the East, leaving Toronto and Hamilton fighting over positioning behind the Alouettes.
We give Toronto the advantage.
The Argonauts are currently laying approximately 3.5 points on the road.
Normally we are cautious about laying more than a field goal in an intense rivalry game.
But Toronto has the offensive ceiling to create separation if Hamilton is forced into a pass-heavy comeback situation.
CFL.ca’s Week 14 writer panel also leans heavily toward Toronto, with 80% selecting the Argonauts.
We project:
Toronto 31, Hamilton 24.
That supports Toronto -3.5.
Our price discipline remains important.
If Toronto moves to -5 or higher, we would rather pass than chase the market.
Rocketman CFL Pick: Toronto -3.5 or Better
Toronto vs Hamilton Total Lean
The current total is around 58.5.
Our projection produces 55 points.
That gives us a slight lean toward the Under, although the side remains our preferred wager.
CFL Pick #4: Edmonton Elks -1.5 at Calgary
Pick: Edmonton -1.5
Projected Score: Edmonton 31, Calgary 27
Edmonton-Calgary gives us another major Labour Day rivalry game.
The early market makes Edmonton only a slight road favorite.
We believe the Elks deserve that position.
Edmonton enters the matchup rested after its Week 13 bye and remains one of the strongest teams in the West.
Calgary, meanwhile, has an important quarterback question.
Vernon Adams Jr. missed the Stampeders’ previous matchup and his status remains an important variable entering Labour Day.
If Adams cannot play, Josh Love would again become a major part of the equation.
Calgary has enough rushing ability to remain competitive regardless of quarterback, particularly with Dedrick Mills capable of carrying a significant workload.
But Edmonton’s combination of rest and current form gives the Elks the edge at a very manageable spread.
CFL.ca’s writers also favor Edmonton by an 80% margin.
Our projection:
Edmonton 31, Calgary 27.
At Edmonton -1.5, we are essentially asking the Elks to win the game.
That is a price we are willing to play.
Rocketman CFL Pick: Edmonton -1.5

Why CFL Labour Day Weekend Matters
Labour Day Weekend is one of the signature weekends on the Canadian Football League calendar.
The traditional rivalry games create unusual betting environments because the teams know one another extremely well.
That can produce:
- Greater emotional intensity
- Strong home-field environments
- More familiarity between coaching staffs
- Public betting based on rivalry history
- Potential value when bettors overreact to recent results
Rivalry history is useful context, but it should never replace handicapping the current teams and current betting number.
How We Handicap CFL Picks This Week
Rocketman Sports does not handicap CFL games solely by looking at each team’s win-loss record.
Our weekly evaluation considers:
- Quarterback play
- Current injuries
- Offensive and defensive efficiency
- Recent form
- Home-field advantage
- Rest and scheduling
- Line movement
- Public perception
- Current betting price
The final item may be the most important.
A team we like at +3.5 might not be attractive at +1.
A favorite we like at -2 may become a pass at -5.
Sports betting is about price, not simply predicting winners.
CFL Betting Against Public Perception
Public perception can have an outsized influence on football betting markets.
Bettors naturally react to what they saw most recently.
A team that won by 20 points last week may receive considerably more attention than a team that quietly lost a close game.
Rocketman Sports looks for situations where the betting number may have moved farther than the underlying difference between the teams justifies.
This does not mean automatically betting against the public.
Sometimes the public is right.
The goal is finding a number where perception and actual probability may not be aligned.
BC +3.5 is particularly interesting this week because Montreal owns the stronger overall reputation, yet BC enters as one of the CFL’s hottest teams.
Best CFL Underdog This Week
Our favorite underdog is BC +3.5 at Montreal.
The Lions have enough offensive firepower to win the game outright, and getting more than a field goal gives us protection if Montreal escapes with a close home victory.
BC’s five-game winning streak also makes this much more than a blind contrarian wager.
Best CFL Favorite This Week
Our favorite short favorite is Edmonton -1.5 at Calgary.
Edmonton comes in rested while Calgary still has an important quarterback situation to evaluate.
With a spread below a field goal, we are essentially backing Edmonton to win the Labour Day matchup.
Best CFL Total This Week
The most interesting early total is BC-Montreal Over if bettors can find approximately 60.5 or better.
BC has averaged more than 33 points during its current five-game winning streak, and Montreal has one of the CFL’s strongest offenses.
Our projected score of Montreal 32, BC 31 produces 63 points.
The higher the market climbs, however, the less interested we become.
Why the Betting Line Matters
Our Saskatchewan recommendation is a good example.
We like Saskatchewan -3.5.
That does not automatically mean we like Saskatchewan -6.
A 30-24 projection gives Saskatchewan a six-point margin.
At -3.5, that creates a reasonable cushion.
At -6, virtually all of the projected value is gone.
The same principle applies to every sports wager.
