4* Boston -12-1/2 over New York NBA PLAY OF THE DAY....BDS First off, I had a few emails and calls about the Sixers (17-9) yesterday. Yes and of course, we did contemplate using them in the underdog role up in Canada. Still, we begged off with the reasoning Philadelphia still needs another major scorer inside to support Embiid who last night dropped in a meager 10 points (5-17), while securing a technical foul to boot. Butler dropped in 38, Reddick 25 in a 113-102 loss to the better "team" Toronto (21-5). Finally, Simmons had some nice numbers, but did not shoot a foul shot, and committed costly ball handling miscues on the way to 7 turnovers. Just a few notes. Tonight the Celtics (13-10) who sit 6-1/2 games back in the Atlantic East face the nagging Knicks (8-17) at the Boston Garden. What the hell are the Celtics doing? Well, they miss guard Brown who has been day-to-day, and surely need the player to run a more consistent offense. Fortunately, Hayward has improved with Boston out scoring opponents by 5.3 points per 100 positions when he is on the floor. The Celtics (6-3 SUH) seem primed for a run at Philly and Toronto after defeating Minnesota the other night with 5 double-digit scorers, but still do need an increase in offensive production from the bench. In this spot, the emotions should be high for Boston who arrives with a smear face revenge situation versus New York (4-10 SUA). Granted the number is in the doubles, but the extended rest should drive the Celtics emotions and effectiveness. Technically, Boston is 5-1 L6 ATS with 3+ days of rest and 20-6 ATS at the Garden overall. They are 10-4 ATS Thursday's and a solid 4-1 ATS versus losing units. Good Luck.

7:30 Eastern 5* (703) Orlando+ over Miami (H) Difficult to assess the Heat's (9-13) consistency with McGruder, Dragic, Walters and Johnson banged up physically. In addition, Miami possesses some horrific spread numbers this season, going 0-5 ATS versus the Southeast, 6-13 ATS versus the Eastern Conference. The Heat maybe 4-1 ATS L5, but have a conflicting 2-6 ATS record at home. We know Miami is coming off back-to-back wins, but Orlando (9-13) does have strong numbers against the spread recently. The Magic board with a majestic 4-0 ATS record off a SU win and 4-0 ATS on the road. Also, and finally, the series underdog has been money in the bank hitting 7-of-9 ATS. With Orlando showing off 3+ days of rest (10-1-1 ATS), we'll take a ticket with the underdog. Good Luck.

12/03/18 7:30 Eastern 4* Washington (503) over New York Brad Diamond Sports 5* NBA Key Power Angle... The early line -1, and now -1-1/2-2 in most places on the Strip. Both Porrzingis and Thomas are out for NY. In the series the Wizards have consistently covered. In fact, they are 8-2 ATS when facing the depleted Knicks. Further, they have covered 7-of-8 at New York, while the chalk in series is a super 8-2 ATS. So, the key here is getting the best line quickly with Washington favored. Remember too, New York is #26 in scoring defense, which allows the Wizards a legitmate shot in the road setting. Good Luck, and happy holidays to all from Brad Diamond and Company.

8:3O EASTERN 4* INDIANA+ (713) over Milwaukee Overnight and early this afternoon the Vegas number hovered around the Bucks -3-1/2, that's enough for this handicapper to make play on the Pacers. Coming into the season the Bucks were thought to have more talent and skill than the Pacers. Still, must give respect to Indiana in this rough road assignment. The off-season additions apparently have issued an early statement, so we expect Indiana to hang around all night with a chance to win SU. The Pacers show 4-1 ATS in the series, covering 5 straight games overall on the road. In addition, they have a sensational 8-1 ATS mark versus the Central Milwaukee, despite some strong preseason press clippings are 0-5 ATS after a SU win, 5-13 ATS at home. Take the points.

8:05 Eastern 10* Cleveland+ over Golden State NBA CHAMPIONSHIP PLAYOFF GAME OF THE YEAR…BDS It takes some insight or guts to come back with Cleveland after their ATS win and SU heart braking loss to Golden State in game #1 of the series. Remember, the Cavs were 0-10-1 ATS going into their previous set when playing on the West Coast and they almost won the game! Cleveland is 3-2 ATS the L5 games vs. the Warriors. Statistically, the two units are very close in their recent matchups. For Cleveland their offense is averaging 109.2 points against Golden State, while the Warrior offense is around 113.0 points per game vs. Cleveland’s defense. Further, the Warriors in the series is shooting 49.7% against the “D” of Cleveland, and the Cavs are hitting 47.3% from the field challenging GS. The numbers alone indicate another close affair in game #2. From the player standpoint, the Warriors may not have Iggy in the lineup and Durant is shooting a horrid 31.7% from three in the overall post season. Technically, Cleveland has covered 4 straight and 5-of-6 ATS vs. the West. The Cavs have been playing well against >.600 units going a profitable 5-1 ATS. On the other hand, Golden State comes 12-25 ATS vs. >.500 units and 6-18 ATS off a SU win. In closing, State is 0-4 ATS vs. the East and 0-4 ATS after two days of rest. Good Luck.

5* (520) LA+ over Boston Always a tenuous situation going against 34-13 Celtics since their considered one of the key 5 teams in the league. However, they have lost three straight both SU & ATS against Orlando, Philadelphia and New Orleans all at the Garden? The LAKERS (17-29) despite their losing record have been playing more effectively at home winning back-to-back games vs. Indiana and New York. Although the Celtics have won the last four in their meetings, LA is 7-3 ATS in their series (4-1 ATS at home). This appears to be a viable situation for the Lakers as technically they bring a monster 6-0 ATS home record vs. a foe who allowed 100+ in their game. LA has covered five-in-a-row while hitting 100% (11-0 ATS) as an underdog off a win after their challenger shot over 50% from the field. Good Luck.

Chicago has lost back-to-back games to the Blazers and Washington. Already this campaign, the Bulls have dropped two to the Raptors 117-110 and 119-114. They play to a weak defense of the Lakers who have been surrenderinng almost 110-points per game. They are near the bottom of the league in scoring defense. Although they may not look like a super crusher spot, I still believe the Rockets talents and "kill instinct" will do the trick. They have CASHED on a 19-7 ATS tear against Houston most recently. With SG Hood of the Jazz out, Houston has more of a chance to push the ball with less fear of falling behind in a road setting. Houston has won six straight against the spread on the road vs. Utah, and 6-0 ATS against the Western Conference. More important, they are a solid 7-1 ATS with 3+ days of rest. And remember this is an 18-4 unit vs. a struggling 13-12 squad. Good Luck.

10* (710) Golden State over Cleveland @ 9:00 Eastern NBA Grand Slam Playoff Selection…BDS Simply, right off game #5 last year saw Cleveland rebound to support their now mentioned miracle run and an NBA Championship. However, in that 112-97 win by the Cavs neither Durant or Green were part of the equation. Briefly, factor in two trends of minor interest, Cleveland plays Monday with a 17-35-2 ATS mark, while the Warriors show 5-1 ATS L6 Monday editions. More important, the Cavs come in off a stunning game #4 beating of Golden State in Cleveland. They out-shot the Warriors 72-33 from three range, and of course broke playoff records. The Cavs scored 49 first quarter points and never looked back with the stellar play of guard Irving and Lord James. Now Cleveland travels to the coast where they are 2-5 ATS. Golden State performs back home with their egos smashed. Considering Curry shot 4-of-13 from the field, the Warriors were in for a bad set. Kevin Durrant played a super game off a slow start. Granted the mental edge, despite the site, is carried by Cleveland. Still, must support Golden State with Durrant (who has never won a championship) and Green playing with their crowd support. This should be a close war but, feel the Warriors bench will help solidify this important battle. Covering the number might be doubtful until the 4th quarter when “Uncle Mo” shows up with the home crowd. Golden State has covered 5 straight with two day’s rest, while bringing a 6-1 ATS off mark off an ATS loss. Cleveland comes in 2-6 ATS after two days off.

5* Portland+ over Golden State Critical must win situation for the Blazers who accrued strong performances out of Dilliard and McCollumn in game #1 but, the combo faltered in game #2 and the Blazers were routed. Golden State has the edge ATS in the series but, the Warriors are 5-12-2 ATS with 2 days of rest. Portland comes 4-0 ATS on Saturday, 5-0 ATS at home against a road unit with a >.600 or more road winning mark. With the Blazers 8-1 ATS at home, we look for a closer game and at least a cover for the frustrated Blazers. Good Luck.

4* Houston (719) over OKC Granted there are conflicting items of interest inside the numbers program. However, must respect gutty Rockets who have simply more scoring answers on their side of the ledger in comparison to Westbrook and company. Yes, the Rockets have played so-so on the road going 0-5 ATS. Still, when matchup the Houston 5-0 ATS at OKC and 10-2 ATS series there is more to find positive with the visitor. Remember, OKC maybe 28-13 SU at home but, they show 1-4 ATS L5 vs.

4* OKC over Philadelphia The Sixers still being aggressive despite current status, and have been covering of late on the road. But can't recommend knowing OKC is just 2-1/2 games behind Utah for 4th place in the Western Conference. The Thunder shows 6-0-1 ATS vs. the Atlantic &11-3 ATS vs. road.Unit with .400 or under losing record. With OKC 5-2 ATS vs. Philly at home and the home team 5-1 ATS in the series, go with the Thunder.

031517 4* Detroit (610) over Utah @ 7:30 Eastern Last night the Pistons were smashed by an emotional Cleveland club led by LBJ as he went off helping to produce an easy 128-96 win. Now Detroit (33-34) is in a difficult back-to-back set with Utah coming to town. The Pistons are, however, 9-2 ATS against the Northwest of late. Utah (42-25) on the other hand travels after an incredible win over LAC, 114-108. The Jazz have won 7-of-10 SU and have covered 5 straight vs. the Central. Not discounting the Jazz talent and SOS advantages, and their 9-2 ATS mark in Detroit, we feel they could show up with not much emotion. Remember, the Jazz have Cleveland next on the road, so I see this as a super situational edge for Detroit who should come out on fire. With the Pistons 9-2 ATS against the Northwest and the dog 4-1 ATS in this series, TAKE THE POINTS.

4* Boston over Detroit The 37-21 Celtics visit 26-32 Detroit in what should be a real war. Boston is one of the best road units in the NBA this season against the spread going a solid 18-10-2. In addition, they create real matchup problems for the Pistons. Go with the visitor laying the short price.

4* Phoenix -3-1/2 not higher over LA The Lakers (19-38) are going through a rough part of their schedule losing a one-point decision last night at home to SAC, and having to get back on the road again. For this handicapper, a letdown spot is at hand. LA is 1-7 ATS road vs. a

020817 4* Detroit -6-1/2 (508) over LA Lakers At face value one might assert the Lakers should be in a strong position to pull an upset on Wednesday night in Detroit. After all, the line seems inflated and LA comes in off a crushing win at New York after losing back-to-back road tests against talented Boston and Washington. My guess is they maybe a little flat, and when you consider their 1-5 ATS record with a day’s rest other factors seem to make sense. Remember, LA is just 18-36 SU this season having lost back-to-back games SU in this series to Detroit. Further, the Lakers have made recent lineup changes which still has the public and their followers second guessing. Detroit 24-28 is 14-11 ATS L25 at home, and come with a 4-0 ATS record with just one day off. They are a perfect 4-0 ATS after their current opponent allows 100+ points in their last game. The Pistons are 3-1 SU L4 times out with wins over Philadelphia, Minnesota and New Orleans all losing teams. Despite the Lakers having the recent edge in SOS feel the Pistons recent up-tick in confidence should go a long way in procuring the ATS money. Good Luck.
