The Ny Mets and Miami Marlins have game one of their three game set here on Friday. The Mets snapped a three game losing streak with a win over the Phillies on Thursday, 6-5. The Mets are 20-23 overall and in 4th in the NL East, 10-games back of the Phillies. Christian Scott will start today for the Mets. He's 0-1 in his two starts with a 2.84 ERA and 1.105 WHIP. He's also had 14 KO's and three walks over his 12 2/3 innings of work. The Marlins took two of three games from the Detroit Tigers. They only scored three runs over their last two games but held the Tigers to no runs. The Marlins are last in the NL East with a 13-32 record and are tied with the White Sox for the worst run differential in baseball with a -87. They are 18 games back of the Phillies and eight games back of fourth place NY Mets. Jesus Luzardo is 0-3 in his six starts with a 5.97 ERA and 1.326 WHIP. The Marlins give little run support to their starters and Luzardo is no exception. I'll take the Mets here on Friday. |

The Mets and Marlins play game two of their three game set here on Saturday. The Marlins shut out the Mets in game one, 8-0. The loss dropped the Mets to 20-24 and 11-games back of the Phillies in the NL East. The Mets have a -16 run differential. The Marlins are still in last and likely there the entire season. They improved to 14-32, 18-games back of the Phillies with a -79 run differential. Luis Severino will start today for the Mets. Severino is 2-2 in is eight starts with a 3.60 ERA and 1.222 WHIP. Severino has been very consistent since his opening day start where he gave up a season high six runs. Since then, he's allowed over three runs just one time and that was four vs the Rays. Braxton Garrett will start for the Marlins. Garrett is 0-0 in his one start with a 8.44 ERA. He allowed five runs over 5 1/3 innings vs the Phillies for a no decision. Hard to see the fish winning two in a row, I'll take the Mets here in game two. Play New York. |
